Transcript [00:00] What connects the region of Benjamin in [00:03] Samaria and Belleview, Ontario? [00:06] And it's simple. It's something we've [00:08] been talking about for months. It's [00:10] something which continues to intensify [00:12] and continues to show its ugly head. And [00:15] that is due hatred. [00:24] On the eve of Yonipur, which is one of [00:26] the most somber, most significant Jewish [00:29] holidays, a father of six was murdered [00:32] by a Palestinian terrorist in the [00:34] Benjamin region in Samaria. [00:37] Meanwhile, in Belleview, Ontario in [00:40] Canada, a police officer was critically [00:43] injured after he was shot while a gunman [00:47] tried to enter a synagogue in Canada on [00:51] Yonipo. [00:53] We've seen the tidal wave of [00:54] anti-semitism online. We've seen the [00:58] statistics from New York of hate crimes [01:00] against the Jewish community. We've seen [01:01] statistics from Hawaii, statistics from [01:04] Seattle. You name it, hate crimes [01:07] against the Jewish community are up. And [01:09] this is bearing in mind that the Jewish [01:10] community make up a tiny percentage of [01:13] the population of this country. These [01:16] are two incidences separated by hundreds [01:19] of miles. One in Canada, one in Samaria. [01:24] And what does that tell us? On the eve [01:27] of Yonipore, [01:29] a father of six is murdered [01:32] simply as he travels. Why? [01:36] Because he was Jewish. Why was a [01:38] synagogue targeted [01:40] during Yonipur, a time where it is busy, [01:44] full of people worshiping, [01:48] taking a a moment to atone for the past [01:52] year [01:54] because it is a Jewish place of worship. [01:57] And we can add whatever spin that we've [01:59] had. Oh, it's because of this, it's [02:01] because of that. Let's put everything [02:03] aside for one second. Let's separate [02:07] Israel's war against Hamas for one [02:09] second. What does a congregation, a [02:12] Jewish congregation, a synagogue in [02:14] Canada have to do with Israel's war [02:18] against Hamas? It has been used as a [02:21] pretext, literally this pretext. And [02:23] Israel was attacked. Remember, on [02:25] October 7th, they were attacked. And it [02:27] was not until weeks later they launched [02:30] a fullscale invasion of Gaza to bring [02:32] its hostages home and to defeat Hamas. [02:36] It was used as a pretext [02:39] to demonize and to attack Jews. And [02:42] every single day of silence is [02:44] complicitness in this. We can't pretend [02:47] and we can't dismiss this as being [02:49] people on the fringe because at the end [02:51] of the day when when people are afraid [02:55] to go to their places of worship. Now [02:57] imagine this. I say to this my Christian [02:59] friends on Christmas or Easter, [03:03] imagine you had to have police outside [03:06] your church because there is a high [03:07] likelihood of there being attacked [03:10] simply because you're a Christian. And [03:12] that is what so many Jews are dealing [03:14] with right now. And what is even more [03:16] disturbing is that some of it is coming [03:18] from those who claim to be Christians. [03:21] A speaker said it much better than I [03:23] will right now. But you see that a [03:26] Jewish family will post pictures from [03:28] their bar mitzvah and you'll have [03:29] comments underneath saying Christ is [03:31] king. Why? A genuine question. Why? To [03:35] those people who think they're achieving [03:36] something. Why would you put that under [03:39] a picture of a family's bar mitzvah? [03:42] You're just taking the Lord's name in [03:44] vain. You're turning it into a slogan. [03:47] It's time to open your Bible, close [03:51] social media, and look at what's [03:53] happening. Look at it in the light of [03:55] scripture. Look at it in the light of [03:57] Jesus's teachings. [03:59] Our neighbor is hurting. Our neighbor [04:02] cannot celebrate the Jewish New Year or [04:05] the Day of Atonement [04:07] without threats of violence. [04:10] Six children will never see their father [04:12] again. They will grow up without their [04:14] father because of hatred. [04:16] It's anti-semitism when you are [04:18] targeting Jews. When you are singling [04:20] out Jews, when Jews feel unsafe going to [04:23] their places of worship, dropping their [04:25] kids off at Jewish day schools, where [04:26] they're targeted online for harassment [04:30] day after day, that's anti-semitism. [04:33] Wanting peace, wanting a better future [04:36] for the people of Gaza, for the children [04:38] of Gaza, does not come from harassing [04:41] Jews and trying to murder Jews while [04:42] they pray in their synagogue or shooting [04:44] Jews while they drive down the street. [04:47] And if you believe that, you are part of [04:49] the problem. [04:51] You are spreading and part of a [04:53] cancerous ideology which is destroying [04:55] the very fabric of our society. Because [04:57] when one group feels unsafe, when one [05:00] group feels threatened, the very idea of [05:02] America is being threatened. [05:05] So I say once again for the Christians [05:07] in America, open your Bible, close [05:10] social media, stop echoing the the memes [05:12] and the graphics of bots who tell you [05:14] lies. You're being manipulated. [05:18] You're manipulated by social media and [05:20] Facebook. The only book you need to [05:22] consult right now is the good book. [05:25] Read the teachings of Jesus. Read the [05:28] kindness, the love. And ask yourself [05:31] when you see these so-called Christians [05:35] spreading hatred, spewing venom against [05:37] the Jewish people, is this what Jesus [05:40] would do? [05:42] This is Kasim Fuse for the Kufi Weekly. [05:44] For Zion's sake, do not remain silent. [05:49] Thanks for checking out this episode. More than 5,600 miles separate Binyamin in Samaria from Belleville, Ontario—but this Yom Kippur, both were touched by violence as Jewish communities prepared to observe their holiest day.
In Binyamin, a father of six was murdered in a terrorist attack. In Belleville, a police officer guarding a synagogue was shot as worshippers gathered.
In this episode of CUFI Weekly, we ask why Jews around the world still face danger simply for gathering to worship—and confront an uncomfortable reality: some of today’s antisemitism is coming from those who call themselves Christians.
Jesus commanded us to love our neighbors. What happened to loving our neighbors?
