[music] there.

Hi, I'm Robert Jefferson. Welcome again
[03:08]
[music] to Pathway to Victory. Whether
[03:10]
you're watching a fireworks display on
[03:12]
the 4th of July or listening to an

orchestra in [music] concert, the
[03:17]
greatest moment of any performance comes
[03:19]
during the grand finale. And the same is
[03:21]
true for the book of Revelation. Today
[03:24]
we're going to look at the magnificent
[03:26]
future described in Revelation chap 22
[03:29]
that awaits all followers of Jesus
[03:32]
Christ. [music]

>> You've read about miracles like the
[06:56]
parting of the Red Sea and the raising
[06:58]
of Lazarus. But have you ever wondered,
[07:00]
does God still work miracles today? In
[07:03]
his powerful new book, Divine Invasions,
[07:05]
Dr. Robert Jeff makes a biblical case
[07:08]
that our miracle working God has not
[07:10]
gone silent. He still intervenes with
[07:12]
power, provision, protection, and
[07:14]
healing. [music] And he can even work a
[07:16]
miracle in your life. Request your copy
[07:19]

[07:21]
generous gift to support the ministry of
[07:23]
Pathway to Victory.
[07:33]
We are living in the last period of time
[07:36]
before the rapture of the church, the
[07:38]
church age when God has temporarily set
[07:40]
aside the Jewish people to allow
[07:43]
Gentiles like you and me to come in to
[07:46]
be a part of God's blessing. We are in
[07:49]
that final period of time in the church
[07:51]
age could end tonight when the rapture
[07:53]
of the church occurs. Understanding that
[07:56]
truth, look at verse 11. The angel says,
[07:59]
"Let the one who does wrong still do
[08:02]
wrong, and let the one who is filthy
[08:04]
still be filthy, and let the one who is
[08:06]
righteous still practice righteousness,
[08:08]
and the one who is holy still keep
[08:10]
himself holy." Isn't that a confusing
[08:12]
verse? Let the one who does wrong still
[08:16]
do wrong. Is that a command to keep
[08:18]
sinning if you're sinning? Of course
[08:20]
not. What this verse is reminding us is
[08:23]
because the time is near, the time is
[08:27]
coming soon
[08:29]
when whatever decision you've made about
[08:32]
God will be fixed for eternity. That
[08:35]
there'll no longer be any possibility of
[08:37]
change. Did you know that's true about
[08:39]
the angels right now? Back at the
[08:42]
beginning of time when there was a
[08:43]
rebellion in heaven and Lucifer took
[08:46]
some of the angels with him who chose to
[08:48]
follow him. That decision was a one-time
[08:51]
decision that was forever. Angels can't
[08:53]
repent and come to faith in God. Those
[08:56]
in heaven who are angels serving God
[08:58]
can't decide to follow Satan. Their
[09:00]
decision is fixed. The same thing is
[09:03]
going to happen to you at one time in
[09:05]
the future. Right now, you have the
[09:07]
ability to change your relationship with
[09:10]
God. You can choose right now if you're
[09:12]
not following God to follow him. You can
[09:15]
choose if you're following him not to
[09:16]
follow him. Your relationship with God
[09:20]
is fluid right now, but one day it will
[09:24]
be fixed for all eternity. Perhaps this
[09:28]
illustration will help you understand
[09:30]
that. Do you remember in the good old
[09:32]
days before cell phones when you
[09:35]
actually took pictures with a camera?
[09:37]
Remember that? Remember cameras? And
[09:40]
remember those cameras? They didn't have
[09:42]
a little uh electronic computer card in
[09:44]
it. It had something called film.
[09:47]
remember film, you would take your
[09:49]
picture and after you'd finish a roll of
[09:51]
film, you'd drop it in an envelope and
[09:53]
send it to some uh laboratory and they
[09:55]
would develop the picture for you. Uh I
[09:58]
had a friend who was a photographer and
[10:00]
he actually took me into a developing
[10:02]
lab. He liked to develop his own
[10:04]
pictures. And so you'd go into this
[10:06]
room, the dark room, and there'd be a
[10:08]
red light that wouldn't hurt the film.
[10:10]
You'd open up the back of the camera,
[10:13]
take out the film, and you would put the
[10:15]
film into a developing bath, some
[10:19]
chemicals that would cause the negative
[10:21]
to be developed, to form into a picture.
[10:24]
And you could stand there and actually
[10:26]
watch the negative uh turning into a
[10:30]
picture. But at a point in the process,
[10:33]
my friend would take out that negative
[10:36]
out of the chemical bath and he would
[10:38]
put it into another bath of chemicals
[10:40]
called the stop bath. And the stop bath
[10:45]
would stop any further development of
[10:47]
that picture. It would become fixed in
[10:50]
that instant. And what that picture was
[10:53]
at that moment, it would always be. Did
[10:56]
you know there's such a process for you
[10:58]
and me? There is a time in the future
[11:01]
when our relationship with God will be
[11:03]
fixed for all eternity. You know what
[11:06]
that moment is? It's the moment of your
[11:08]
death.
[11:10]
The moment you die,
[11:13]
all opportunity for change in your life
[11:15]
is over.
[11:17]
The Bible says the moment that you die,
[11:20]
if you're practicing righteousness,
[11:22]
you're going to practice righteousness
[11:23]
for all eternity. You're going to have a
[11:25]
beautiful relationship with God. But if
[11:28]
you die apart from God, you will spend
[11:31]
eternity apart from God, rebelling
[11:34]
against God in hell forever. That's why
[11:37]
he says, "Let the one who does wrong
[11:40]
still do wrong, and the one who is
[11:42]
righteous still practice righteousness."
[11:45]
Look at verse 12. Behold, I Jesus Christ
[11:49]
am coming quickly, and my reward is with
[11:51]
me to render to every man according to
[11:55]
what? to what he has done.
[11:59]
Don't let anybody tell you folks that
[12:01]
God doesn't care about your works. No,
[12:04]
your works are going to be the basis by
[12:06]
which God judges you. He is coming to
[12:08]
judge every man according to his works.
[12:12]
We've seen that in this study. For
[12:14]
Christians, their works will be
[12:16]
evaluated at the BMA, the judgment seat
[12:18]
of Christ. It determines the kind of
[12:20]
heaven we experience.
[12:22]
But for the unbeliever,
[12:24]
he will be judged by the things that he
[12:27]
has done. The Bible says according to
[12:29]
his works. Revelation chapter 20, he's
[12:32]
rejected grace. He said, "I want to be
[12:34]
judged by my works." God says, "Fine,
[12:36]
let's look at your works." And every man
[12:39]
who chooses that type of judgment will
[12:42]
come up lacking from the perfection
[12:44]
required by Jesus Christ.
[12:47]
Listen, works verify our salvation,
[12:52]
but works never earn our salvation.
[12:58]
Our salvation is verified by our works,
[13:00]
but it is not earned by our works.
[13:03]
Ephesians 2 8 and 9 says, "For by grace
[13:07]
you have been saved through faith, and
[13:09]
that not of yourselves. It is a gift of
[13:11]
God, not of works, lest any man should
[13:15]
boast." We are saved by grace for good
[13:18]
works. We are not saved by good works.
[13:22]
And you see that emphasized in the next
[13:24]
two verses. Verses 13 and 14. I Jesus
[13:27]
Christ and the alpha and the omega, the
[13:29]
first and the last, the beginning and
[13:31]
the end. Blessed are those, underline
[13:35]
this, who wash their robes so that they
[13:39]
might have a right to the tree of life
[13:41]
and may enter by the gates into the
[13:43]
city. Who is it that has a right to the
[13:46]
tree of life? Who is going to be
[13:48]
welcomed into God's city, the new
[13:50]
Jerusalem? Those who have washed their
[13:54]
robes. That is a picture of a person who
[13:57]
realizes that his own righteousness is
[14:00]
not good enough to enter into heaven.
[14:02]
The Bible says our righteousness, the
[14:04]
best we can do, is like a filthy rag to
[14:06]
God. But the Bible promises that if we
[14:09]
will wash our lives in the blood of
[14:11]
Jesus Christ, the blood of Jesus Christ
[14:14]
can remove any stain from our life's
[14:17]
record. Though your sins be as scarlet,
[14:19]
I will make them white as snow, God
[14:21]
promises. That's what the blood of
[14:23]
Christ does for us. And that's why he
[14:26]
says, "Blessed are those who wash their
[14:28]
robes. Only they will have a right to
[14:31]
inherit the kingdom of God."
[14:34]
Now, if you have a King James Bible, how
[14:38]
many of you have a King James Bible?
[14:40]
You're looking at me and saying, "What
[14:41]
are you talking about? That's not what
[14:43]
my Bible says." If you have a King James
[14:45]
Bible, it says, "Blessed are those that
[14:49]
do God's commandments."
[14:52]
Why is that?
[14:55]
Okay, I'll admit it. This is the part
[14:56]
where I stop preaching just for a second
[14:59]
and make a little bit of an ask. You're
[15:02]
here. you're watching and that tells me
[15:04]
something about you. You're serious
[15:06]
about God's word. So, let's make sure
[15:09]
you never lose track of us. Three things
[15:11]
I'm asking you to do. Hit subscribe.
[15:14]
Click the bell. That's how we'll tap you
[15:16]
on the shoulder every time something new
[15:18]
drops. And then go to the program notes.
[15:21]
There's a free resource down there with
[15:23]
your name on it. No donation, no catch,
[15:26]
just something I want to put in your
[15:28]
hands. Are you finished? Great. Let's
[15:31]
get back to today's message.
[15:33]
It's a big difference. If you want to
[15:36]
know how to get to heaven, this is a big
[15:38]
deal, folks. Do I get to heaven by doing
[15:42]
God's commandments, or do I get to
[15:44]
heaven by washing my life in the blood
[15:47]
of Jesus Christ? Is it by my works and
[15:50]
my goodness, or is it by the blood of
[15:53]
Christ that I enter into heaven? Big
[15:55]
difference.
[15:56]
Why does the King James version say,
[15:59]
"Blessed are those who do God's
[16:02]
commandments?" Here's why. The King
[16:05]
James Bible was published in 1611,
[16:09]
and it was based on a special Greek
[16:12]
text, uh, the Greek New Testament that
[16:16]
was assembled by Arasmus in 1516,
[16:21]
about 90 years before the King James
[16:23]
Bible. That Greek New Testament that
[16:25]
Arasmus put together called the Textus
[16:28]
Receptus was the foundation of the King
[16:31]
James Bible. And in 1516 when Arasmus
[16:34]
was putting together that Greek New
[16:37]
Testament, he used three Greek
[16:40]
manuscripts of the New Testament to
[16:42]
prepare his uh Greek New Testament. One
[16:46]
from the 10th century, one from the 12th
[16:49]
century, and one from the 15th century.
[16:52]
And as Arasmus sat there and put
[16:55]
together that Greek New Testament and he
[16:57]
came to this passage, he looked at those
[16:59]
three manuscripts and they all said the
[17:02]
same thing. Blessed are those who keep
[17:05]
God's commandments. So that's what he
[17:07]
put in his Greek New Testament that
[17:09]
ended up in the King James version.
[17:12]
But since 1611, in the almost 500 years
[17:16]
since 1611, we have discovered earlier
[17:21]
older Greek manuscripts,
[17:23]
older by hundreds and hundreds of years
[17:26]
that were much closer to the time of the
[17:29]
original text. And those older
[17:31]
manuscripts said, "Blessed are those who
[17:35]
wash their robes."
[17:37]
In other words, the text we now have of
[17:40]
the New Testament that are closest to
[17:41]
the original say, "Blessed are those who
[17:44]
wash their robes." Man has said, "God's
[17:48]
grace isn't enough. I need to add my
[17:51]
good works." Surely, there is something
[17:54]
I can do to earn God's forgiveness.
[17:58]
Since the beginning of time, people have
[18:00]
been trying to hang a sign above the
[18:03]
cross of Jesus Christ that says,
[18:05]
"Necessary,
[18:07]
but not enough." We try to add our works
[18:10]
to God's grace. And God says, "No, it is
[18:13]
by grace and grace alone that you've
[18:16]
been saved." And that's why you see the
[18:18]
change here. No, the original text, God
[18:21]
said, "Blessed are those who wash their
[18:24]
robes." Look at verse 15. And outside
[18:26]
are the dogs and the sorcerers and the
[18:28]
immoral persons and the murderers and
[18:31]
idolattors and everyone who loves and
[18:33]
practices lying. Don't let anybody tell
[18:35]
you everybody's going to heaven. They're
[18:37]
not. There are those inside the wall who
[18:40]
are part of the new Jerusalem and a part
[18:41]
of God's kingdom. And there are those
[18:43]
outside the wall who will be there
[18:45]
forever. Now look at verses 16 and 17.
[18:49]
The final invitations of the Bible. I
[18:52]
Jesus have sent my angel to testify to
[18:54]
you these things for the churches. I am
[18:57]
the root and the descendant of David,
[18:58]
the bright and morning star. Now look at
[19:01]
this verse 17. The spirit and the bride
[19:03]
say come. And let the one who hears say
[19:07]
come.
[19:08]
This first invitation is an invitation
[19:11]
for Jesus Christ to come back to earth.
[19:14]
And notice who issues this invitation.
[19:17]
The spirit. The holy spirit. Holy Spirit
[19:20]
is not some it. It is a he. He's a part
[19:23]
of the godhead. The Holy Spirit is
[19:26]
grieved by the sin and the rebellion he
[19:29]
sees in the world today. And he cries
[19:32]
out to Jesus the son, "Come, Lord Jesus.
[19:35]
Come." But it's not only the Holy Spirit
[19:38]
who longs for Christ. It's the church of
[19:40]
Jesus Christ. The bride says, "Come." I
[19:43]
tell you, I look at you when you're
[19:45]
singing about Christ return. your faces
[19:47]
light up because that's the desire of
[19:49]
every believer, every true church, for
[19:51]
the Lord to come and let the one who
[19:54]
hears say come. Whoever is a child of
[19:57]
God longs for the return of Jesus
[20:00]
Christ. You know that is not true of the
[20:05]
unbeliever. But it is the believer who
[20:07]
longs for the return of Jesus Christ.
[20:10]
And the Bible says a second invitation.
[20:14]
And let the one who is thirsty come. Let
[20:18]
the one who wishes take the water of
[20:21]
life without cost. Remember what Jesus
[20:24]
said. Whoever drinks of the water I give
[20:26]
him shall never thirst. For the water I
[20:30]
give to him will become in him a well of
[20:32]
living water springing up to eternal
[20:36]
life. That's God's invitation. Whoever
[20:40]
wishes to take the water of life without
[20:43]
cost, let him do so. God's final
[20:46]
invitation of the Bible. And then there
[20:50]
is a word of special warning. Look at
[20:52]
verse 18. I testify to everyone who
[20:55]
hears the words of this prophecy of this
[20:57]
book. If anyone adds to them,
[21:01]
God will add to him the plagues which
[21:04]
are written in this book.
[21:07]
Nobody should add anything to any of
[21:10]
God's word. But there's a special
[21:12]
warning. If you add to the book of
[21:14]
Revelation,
[21:16]
God is going to add to you the plagues
[21:18]
you've read about in this book. I don't
[21:20]
care if you are a pastor, professor, or
[21:23]
the pope himself. If you take away from
[21:25]
this book, you're going to hell. Not
[21:28]
because you have lost your salvation,
[21:30]
but because you never had it to begin
[21:32]
with. No true believer will tamper with
[21:36]
any of this book in any way because he
[21:39]
knows it is God breathed. Every verse,
[21:42]
every word, every jot and tit of it.
[21:45]
That is the final warning in the Bible.
[21:48]
And then John closes with these words.
[21:50]
Verse 20. He who testifies to these
[21:54]
things says, "Yes, I Jesus Christ
[21:59]
am coming quickly.
[22:01]
I'm coming quickly.
[22:05]
Some people say, "Lord, you said that
[22:07]
2,000 years ago. Where are you?
[22:10]
What's the hold up? Where's the delay?"
[22:14]
Remember in 2 Peter 3:8, Peter wrote,
[22:18]
"In the last days, scoffers will come
[22:22]
with their scoffing, saying, "Where is
[22:24]
the promise of his coming? For ever
[22:27]
since the beginning, things have
[22:28]
remained the way they are.
[22:31]
Beloved, don't let this fact escape your
[22:34]
notice that with the Lord, a day is as a
[22:38]
thousand years, and a thousand years is
[22:41]
as a day. God isn't slow about his
[22:44]
promise. He's not off schedule.
[22:45]
According to God's calendar, it's only
[22:47]
been two days since Christ made those
[22:50]
words. He's coming back and he's coming
[22:53]
back quickly.
[22:55]
And then John adds this postcript. Amen.
[22:59]
So be it.
[23:01]
Come Lord Jesus, come.
[23:05]
That's not the desire of an unbeliever.
[23:08]
No unbeliever I know is saying, "Come
[23:11]
quickly, Lord Jesus, come quickly."
[23:14]
Every unbeliever knows that death or the
[23:17]
return of Jesus Christ, either one means
[23:19]
the end of everything important to that
[23:22]
unbeliever. The end of his career, the
[23:25]
end of his status, the end of his
[23:27]
possessions, it is all over. and all
[23:29]
that faces him as an eternity of God's
[23:32]
judgment. But it is the true believer
[23:35]
who says, "Amen. Come quickly, Lord."
[23:38]
Because for the believer, the coming of
[23:40]
Christ means there shall no longer be
[23:43]
any mourning or crying or pain or death,
[23:47]
for the first things will have passed
[23:49]
away.
[23:52]
Author Joseph SC
[23:55]
pictures the church waiting for Christ's
[23:57]
return as a young lady waiting for her
[24:00]
lover to return from a long journey.
[24:04]
Now, this was written in the language of
[24:06]
yestery year. So, just listen carefully
[24:08]
for this final minute and see if this
[24:11]
word picture doesn't speak to you like
[24:14]
it did to me. Fiction has painted the
[24:17]
picture of a maiden whose lover left her
[24:21]
for a voyage to the Holy Land, promising
[24:24]
on his return to make her his beloved
[24:26]
bride.
[24:28]
Many told her that she would never see
[24:30]
him again. But she believed what her
[24:32]
lover said, and evening by evening she
[24:35]
went down to the lonely shore, and
[24:38]
kindled there a beacon light and sight
[24:41]
of the roaring waves to hail and to
[24:44]
welcome the returning ship, which was to
[24:46]
bring her again to her betrothed. And by
[24:50]
that watchfire she took her stand each
[24:52]
night, praying the winds to hasten on
[24:56]
the sluggish sails, that he who meant
[24:59]
everything in the world to her might
[25:01]
come.
[25:02]
Even so, that blessed Lord who has loved
[25:06]
us unto death has gone away to the
[25:08]
mysterious holy land of heaven,
[25:11]
promising on his return to make us his
[25:14]
happy and eternal bride.
[25:17]
Some say that he's gone forever and that
[25:19]
we shall never see him again. But his
[25:22]
last word was, "Yay, I come quickly."
[25:27]
And on the dark and misty beach sloping
[25:29]
out into the eternal sea, each true
[25:32]
believer stands by the love lit fire,
[25:36]
looking and waiting and praying and
[25:40]
hoping for the fulfillment of his word.
[25:44]
And on one of those nights,
[25:46]
while the world is busy with its
[25:48]
frivolities and laughing at the maiden
[25:51]
on the shore, a form shall rise over the
[25:55]
surging waves, as once it did on
[25:58]
Galilee, to vindicate forever all of
[26:02]
this watching and devotion, and bring to
[26:05]
the faithful and constant heart a joy, a
[26:09]
glory, and a triumph
[26:12]
which never more shall end.
[26:18]
Even so, come quickly, Lord Jesus.
[26:22]
Come quickly.
[26:27]
[music]
[26:29]
Even though today's message on Pathway
[26:31]
to Victory represents our final study in
[26:33]
this series on Revelation, I'm hoping
[26:36]
this program sparks a brand new
[26:38]
beginning [music] for you. May this be
[26:40]
the first of many occasions that you
[26:42]
revel in the coming of Jesus Christ.
[26:45]
Now, in closing, I want to thank those
[26:46]
of you who invest in the ministry of
[26:48]
Pathway to Victory. [music] Friends like
[26:50]
you have stood with this ministry
[26:52]
faithfully year after year, decade after
[26:55]
[music] decade. And because of your
[26:57]
generosity, we're able to keep taking
[26:59]
the light of the gospel [music] to a
[27:01]
world that desperately needs to hear it.
[27:03]
Together, [snorts]
[27:04]
we [music] are piercing the darkness
[27:07]
with the light of God's word. Now,
[27:09]
please stay right there. I'll be back in
[27:11]
just a moment with more Pathway [music]
[27:13]
to Victory. Our world is growing darker
[27:16]
by the day. But the book of Revelation
[27:18]
teaches that one day soon the darkness
[27:20]
will pass, and our long-awaited King of
[27:23]
Kings and Lord of Lords will return and
[27:25]
make his final conquest.
[27:27]
>> The book of Revelation isn't just the
[27:30]
unveiling of future events. It's the
[27:32]
unveiling of a person, Jesus Christ. And
[27:36]
in Final Conquest, my exclusive
[27:39]
commentary on Revelation, you'll
[27:41]
discover the great hope we have in
[27:43]
[music] the triumphant return of our
[27:45]
Lord Jesus Christ.
[27:48]

[28:09]
of Christ, along with the [music]
[28:11]
complete Final Conquest teaching series
[28:13]
on DVD video and MP3 format, audio disc.
[28:16]
>> And these line up exactly with the seven
[28:19]
sealed judgments [music] we see in
[28:21]
Revelation
[28:23]
6. In light of current events and with
[28:26]
the return of Christ so [music] clearly
[28:28]
on the horizon, sharing the gospel
[28:30]
through Pathway to Victory has never
[28:32]
been more important or more urgent.
[28:34]
[music] So, thank you for supporting
[28:35]
Pathway to Victory as together we pierce
[28:38]
the darkness of our [music] day with the
[28:40]
light of God's word.
[28:46]
Today, [music] we've come to the end of
[28:48]
the book of Revelation and the end of
[28:50]
God's word itself. But the end of the
[28:53]
story is really just the beginning of a
[28:55]
brand new [music] existence God has
[28:57]
prepared for those who know Jesus
[28:59]
Christ. Well, that same God is still at
[29:02]
work today, invading our world [music]
[29:04]
with his supernatural power. I invite
[29:07]
you to discover what the Bible says
[29:09]
about miracles in my [music] brand new
[29:11]
series, Divine Invasions, beginning next
[29:15]
time on Pathway to Victory. Stay tuned
[29:17]
for a [music] preview of this new
[29:19]
series, Divine Invasions.
[29:23]
Maybe you've had that kind of experience
[29:26]
before. What I call a divine invasion. A
[29:30]
time that God supernaturally intervened
[29:32]
in your life with supernatural power or
[29:36]
protection or provision or physical
[29:38]
healing. We recognize that they are few
[29:41]
and far between. But the question is, do
[29:44]
they happen at all? Does God still work
[29:49]
in miracles today?
