[00:25] From [00:28] [music] [00:29] the pulpit of the First Baptist Church [00:31] of Dallas, Texas, this is Pathway to [00:34] Victory with Dr. Robert Jeff. [00:37] Hi, I'm Robert Jeff. Welcome again to [00:39] Pathway [music] to Victory. Of all the [00:41] events described in the Bible, none is [00:44] greater than the return of Jesus Christ. [00:47] Kings and empires have risen and fallen, [00:49] but history is moving toward a single [00:52] certain moment. the day Jesus Christ [00:54] returns to earth in power [music] and [00:57] glory. It's an event everything else has [00:59] been pointing to and the hope that holds [01:02] every believer study. My message is [01:04] titled the coming [music] king on [01:07] today's edition of Pathway to Victory. [01:16] >> [music and singing] [01:16] >> light. I'm [04:17] convinced he still does. In my book, [04:20] [music] Divine Invasions, I walk through [04:21] what the Bible actually teaches about [04:23] miracles. I wrote this book because I [04:26] believe God hasn't stopped doing the [04:28] impossible. And I want you [music] to [04:30] experience it in your own life starting [04:33] today. Get your copy of Divine Invasions [04:36] and discover the miracle working power [04:39] of our almighty God. [04:50] John the Baptist stands up and in his [04:54] right hand he has a golden chalice [04:57] filled with that new wine. And he says, [05:00] "Tonight, I want to propose a toast [05:05] to the one who made all of this [05:07] possible, [05:08] the lamb of God who takes away the sin [05:11] of the earth, our Lord and Savior Jesus [05:15] Christ." And with that, everyone rises [05:18] to a sustained, unending ovation. That's [05:22] what it's going to be like at the [05:24] marriage supper of the Lamb. Blessed is [05:27] the one who is invited to that. Now, [05:31] that sets the stage for the return of [05:34] Jesus Christ. Before that wedding supper [05:37] can occur, Jesus and his bride must come [05:41] back to earth again. It begins at the [05:44] beginning of his millennium. That [05:45] wedding supper, they have to return to [05:47] earth again. But something has to happen [05:49] before they get to earth. And that is [05:51] all of the enemies of the groom and the [05:54] bride have to be extinguished. And [05:57] that's what we see happening at the [05:59] return of Jesus Christ. Look at verse [06:02] 11. The triumphal entry of the king. Now [06:05] again, let me set the stage what has [06:07] been happening on earth. We've been [06:09] through the seven years of the [06:10] tribulation. The antichrist through the [06:13] first three and a half years rises to [06:15] power. People frankly are grateful for [06:18] his leadership and bringing order out of [06:20] chaos in the world. But after that first [06:22] three and a half years, a change occurs. [06:26] The Antichrist turns against Israel and [06:29] he begins to persecute Israel and the [06:32] group of believers who are on the earth. [06:34] It is during that time that God's [06:36] judgments against the earth intensify. [06:39] And those over whom the antichrist is [06:41] reigning are getting sick and tired of [06:43] all of the bad things that are happening [06:46] during these last three and a half [06:47] years. You know, there's an old adage, [06:50] he who calls the shots takes the shots. [06:55] Every leader understands that. If you [06:57] happen to be in charge when pandemonium [07:00] is occurring in your organization, in [07:03] your church, in the world, you get [07:05] blamed for it rightly or wrongly. Well, [07:07] the kings of all of the earth are going [07:09] to get tired of the dictatorship of the [07:12] antichrist. And they plot to overthrow [07:14] him. And we see in these final days of [07:17] the tribulation, the kings of the north, [07:20] the kings of the south attempt to [07:23] overthrow the antichrist. But what he's [07:26] particularly disturbed about is when [07:28] word comes to him that a 200 million [07:31] person army from the east is marching [07:34] toward uh Israel, the side of the final [07:38] world conflict. And so all of the forces [07:42] of the world gather together in that [07:44] valley of Jezrael, the valley of [07:47] Armageddon, the place that Napoleon said [07:50] is the most natural battlefield in all [07:53] of the earth. And why do they come to [07:55] that place? Remember in Revelation 16 it [07:58] says the demons enticed them to come. [08:02] The demons operating under the authority [08:05] of God bring all of these world forces [08:09] together in that place known as [08:11] Armageddon. Chapter 16 says the demons [08:14] will entice all the nations of the earth [08:17] to gather at Armageddon for the war of [08:19] the great day of God the Almighty. [08:24] And so you've got this scene at [08:26] Armageddon, the world forces fighting to [08:29] overthrow the Antichrist. They are [08:31] against one another when suddenly they [08:34] look up into the sky and they see the [08:36] warrior king Jesus Christ and his army. [08:40] And suddenly that divided human army [08:43] unites together to fight against Christ. [08:46] And that's where we pick up in verse 11 [08:48] a description of the coming king. And I [08:50] saw heaven open, John says, "And behold, [08:53] a white horse, and he who sat upon it is [08:56] called faithful and true." That word [08:58] faithful means absolutely trustworthy, [09:02] true, genuine, and in righteousness. He [09:05] judges and wages war. For his eyes are a [09:09] flame of fire. Talks about his piercing [09:12] judgment. And on his head are many [09:14] diadems, regal crowns symbolizing his [09:17] right to rule. It was this picture that [09:20] caused Matthew Brides in 1852 to write [09:23] that hymn. Crown him with many crowns, [09:27] the lamb upon his throne. His eyes are a [09:32] flame of fire and on his head are many [09:33] diadems. And he has a name written on [09:35] him which no one knows except himself. [09:38] Are you curious about what that name is [09:40] that is written on him that nobody knows [09:42] about himself? Would you like to know? I [09:45] don't have a clue. Nobody knows. That's [09:47] why it says nobody knows except himself. [09:50] We don't know what it is. He is clothed [09:53] with a robe dipped in blood. It's not in [09:56] his blood. It's in the blood of his [09:58] adversaries on earth who are fighting [10:00] him. And his name is called the word of [10:03] God. This is what was anticipated in [10:05] Zechariah 14:es 3 and 4 about Jesus [10:09] returning to earth to the Mount of [10:11] Olives causing such a a reaction that [10:15] the Mount of Olives will split into two. [10:19] This is the second coming of the Lord [10:21] Jesus Christ. And notice in verse 14 the [10:24] description of the king's army. And the [10:26] armies which are in heaven clothed in [10:30] fine linen white and clean were [10:32] following him on white horses. Who is [10:35] this army from heaven that follows him? [10:37] Some people say it was the angels. Maybe [10:40] the tribulation saints. Maybe. Maybe it [10:42] was the Old Testament saints. It's the [10:44] church. It is you and I. How do I know [10:47] that? There are those that description. [10:49] They were clothed in fine linen. [10:52] Remember we saw earlier that the bride [10:55] was making herself ready in fine linen [10:57] which is the righteous acts of the [11:00] saints. Now look at a description of the [11:03] warrior king in verses 15 and 16. And [11:05] from his mouth comes a sharp sword so [11:08] that with it he may strike down the [11:10] nations. What is that sharp sword? It's [11:14] the word of God. The word of God is [11:16] alive and it's active and it's sharper [11:18] than any two-edged sword. God's word is [11:23] what gives life to some and pronounces [11:25] death upon others. Remember the Old [11:28] Testament description, God's word is [11:30] like a surgeon scalpel. It brings hurt [11:33] as well as healing. So does this [11:36] two-edged sword, the word of God, it [11:39] brings life to those who believe it. It [11:41] brings eternal death to those who reject [11:44] it. And he will rule them with a rod of [11:48] iron. [11:50] Before we go any further in today's [11:51] message, I just want to take a quick [11:53] moment to thank you for streaming [11:55] Pathway to Victory on YouTube. [12:35] Thank you for being here with us today [12:37] on YouTube. Now, let's get back to [12:39] today's message. I hear so many times [12:43] people say, critics say, "Why can't you [12:46] folks at First Baptist Dallas be a [12:48] little more flexible? [12:50] Why are you so rigid in your beliefs? [12:54] Don't you realize culture is changing [12:56] and the church needs to change with the [12:59] culture?" No, we don't change with the [13:00] culture. The Bible says, "Thy word is [13:03] established in heaven forever." [13:06] God's word is like a a rod of iron. It [13:09] is completely inflexible. [13:12] That's what we see here. He's going to [13:13] rule according to that rod of iron and [13:16] he treads the wine press of the fierce [13:19] wrath of God the Almighty. We saw that [13:22] imagery earlier in chapter 14. He will [13:25] tread the wine press of the fierce wrath [13:27] of God. Remember that image of the vine [13:30] press in John's day when grapes were [13:35] ripe almost bursting forth with the [13:38] juice. At that point those grapes would [13:40] be put into a wine press and the [13:43] servants or slaves would get in with [13:45] their bare feet and they would stomp on [13:47] those grapes and those grapes would [13:50] burst forth with the juice that would be [13:53] captured in another sistern below. Well, [13:56] in this image, the grapes represent [14:00] unbelievers, sinners, and they are [14:02] bursting forth with sin. And at God's [14:06] appointed time, Jesus Christ is going to [14:09] trample the grapes of wrath. He is going [14:12] to bring judgment to those sinners. And [14:15] their blood is going to spatter forth, [14:18] splatter forth like the juice from an [14:20] overly ripe grape. That's the picture [14:23] here. In fact, at this battle of [14:26] Armageddon, the death is so great that [14:29] blood will splatter up to the bridal of [14:33] a horse. That's the picture we have [14:35] here. This is a fulfillment of Jude [14:37] verses 14 and 15. Behold, the Lord came [14:41] with many thousands of his holy ones to [14:43] execute judgment upon all and to convict [14:46] all the ungodly of their ungodly deeds [14:51] which they have done in an ungodly way. [14:53] and all the harsh things which ungodly [14:55] sinners have spoken about him. Now in [14:59] verse 17, we see the victory of the king [15:02] over his enemies. Again, Jesus [15:04] prophesied about this in Matthew 24:30. [15:07] And then the sign of the son of man will [15:09] appear in the sky. And then all the [15:12] tribes of the earth will mourn and they [15:14] will see the son of man coming on the [15:16] clouds of the sky with power and with [15:20] great glory. [15:24] This brings about there are three [15:26] aspects of this victory of the king. [15:28] First of all, it's referred to as the [15:31] supper of God. Now listen to me in the [15:35] book of Revelation chapter 19. There are [15:37] actually two supper that are described. [15:41] The first supper, we've already talked [15:42] about the wedding supper of the lamb. [15:45] And John said, "Blessed, happy are those [15:48] who get an invitation to that supper." [15:51] But this is a different supper here. [15:53] It's called the supper of God. [15:58] And that is an invitation you never want [16:00] to receive in the mail. [16:03] The first invitation, the invitation to [16:06] the wedding supper of the lamb, is an [16:08] invitation that is to be coveted. [16:12] This second invitation, an invitation to [16:14] the supper of God, is an invitation to [16:17] be dreaded. The first invitation, the [16:21] lamb of God's supper, is a invitation to [16:26] come and eat. The second invitation to [16:29] the supper of God is an invitation to [16:32] come and be eaten. You'll see what I [16:36] mean here. This is a supper of judgment. [16:38] Verses 17 and 18. Then I saw an angel [16:42] standing in the sun, and he cried out [16:44] with a loud voice, saying to all the [16:46] birds which fly in midheaven, "Come and [16:49] assemble for the great supper of God, so [16:53] that you may eat the flesh of kings, and [16:55] the flesh of commanders, and the flesh [16:57] of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, [17:00] and of those who sit upon them, and the [17:01] flesh of all men, both free men and [17:04] slaves, of small and great." [17:08] You know, the single day of battle in [17:12] which the most lives were lost in [17:14] American history, I read this week was [17:17] September 17th, 1862, [17:20] the Battle of Antidum during the Civil [17:22] War. Over 3,600 soldiers were killed in [17:26] that battle. As devastating as that was, [17:29] it is a drop in the bucket compared to [17:31] what's going to happen at Armageddon. [17:34] There are going to be millions upon [17:36] millions of people who will be [17:37] slaughtered on that day. Do you remember [17:40] some of the pictures coming out of New [17:42] York City during the early days of the [17:45] Corona virus pandemic? There were [17:48] bodies. There were so many bodies. They [17:50] couldn't take care of the bodies. The [17:52] funeral homes couldn't take care of [17:53] them. Those bodies were everywhere. They [17:56] were in trucks. They were being stored. [17:58] There were too many bodies to deal with. [18:01] It will be that way at Armageddon. [18:04] Bodies will be left in the battlefield [18:07] for the birds to eat. You know, we know [18:11] right now that there are millions of [18:13] predatory birds that migrate in the [18:17] spring from Africa to Europe. And their [18:20] migration path takes them over the land [18:24] of Israel. It's very easy to see how [18:26] those predatory birds could be [18:28] instruments of God to pick at the flesh, [18:31] to gorge themselves with the flesh of [18:34] those who are destroyed at this great [18:37] great battle. That is the great supper [18:40] of God. Notice secondly, the judgment of [18:43] the beast and the false prophet. Verse [18:46] 19. And I saw the beast and the kings of [18:48] the earth and their armies assembled to [18:50] make war against Christ who sat upon the [18:52] horse and against his army. And the [18:56] beast, the antichrist, was seized and [18:58] with him the false prophet who performed [19:00] the signs in his presence by which he [19:03] received those who had received the mark [19:05] of the beast and those who worshiped his [19:07] image. And these two that is the [19:09] antichrist and false prophet were thrown [19:12] alive into the lake of fire which burns [19:16] with brimstone. [19:18] This is the first mention of the lake of [19:20] fire in the book of revelation. It is [19:23] the eternal place of torment for those [19:26] who die apart from Christ. You see, [19:29] right now, if you're an unbeliever and [19:31] you die without receiving Jesus Christ [19:34] as your savior, you go to a place the [19:37] Bible calls Hades. Jesus talked about it [19:40] in Luke 16. It's an awful place. It's a [19:43] place of suffering, but it's a temporary [19:46] place as well. Every unbeliever who has [19:49] ever lived is right now in Hades [19:52] awaiting his final trial at the great [19:54] white throne judgment and his final [19:56] sentence which will be to be thrown into [19:59] the lake of fire to be tormented day and [20:03] night forever and ever. The first two [20:07] occupants of that lake of fire will be [20:09] the beast and the false prophet. And [20:12] we'll find after Revelation 20, after [20:14] the thousand years of millennium, the [20:17] reign of Christ, at the end of those [20:19] thousand years, Satan will be cast into [20:23] the lake of fire. Revelation 20:10 says [20:26] the great dragon, Satan will be cast [20:28] into the lake of fire where the beast [20:30] and the false prophet are. To me, that's [20:35] fascinating because Satan doesn't enter [20:38] that lake of fire until a thousand years [20:40] later. And yet a thousand years later [20:43] when Satan is dispatched into the lake [20:45] of fire, it says the beast and the false [20:48] prophet are still there. It doesn't say [20:50] they were there. They are there. Meaning [20:52] they are still alive. [20:55] And that is the awful truth about hell. [20:58] The final judgment place of the unsaved. [21:02] A person who goes to hell isn't just [21:04] destroyed. They continue to suffer, to [21:07] be tormented day and night forever and [21:11] ever. If you don't like that, if you [21:14] think that's wrong or unfair, your [21:17] problem is with the word of God. That's [21:19] exactly what God says. [21:22] God never meant for human beings to [21:24] occupy the lake of fire. It was designed [21:26] for the devil, his angels, for the [21:28] beast, and the false prophet. But those [21:31] who reject the grace, the forgiveness of [21:34] God will spend eternity there as well. [21:37] And then we see this final word in verse [21:39] 21 about the sword of Christ. And the [21:41] rest were killed with a sword which came [21:44] from the mouth of him who sat on the [21:46] horse and all the birds were filled with [21:50] their flesh. [21:54] This is the future that awaits those who [21:57] die apart from Christ Jesus. But what [22:00] about the here and now? [22:03] I close with this. Perhaps the best [22:05] known verse in the entire Bible by [22:08] Christians and non-Christians alike is [22:11] John 3:16. [22:13] For God so loved the world that he gave [22:17] his only begotten son [22:20] that whosoever believes in, trust in, [22:23] clings to him will not perish but have [22:26] eternal life. For God did not send his [22:30] son into the world to judge the world, [22:33] but that the world through him might be [22:34] saved. [22:37] People misinterpret that. They say, "Oh, [22:38] we see pastor, Jesus isn't a judge." No, [22:41] he didn't come to judge the world the [22:43] first time. He didn't come into the [22:44] world the first time to judge the world. [22:46] He came as savior to save the world. He [22:50] didn't come the first time to judge. He [22:52] came to save. John goes on to explain, [22:55] "For he who believes in him is not [22:58] judged. But he who does not believe has [23:01] been judged already because he does not [23:03] believe in the name of the only begotten [23:06] son of God." [23:08] You see, a lot of people think when [23:10] we're born into this world, we're born [23:11] spiritually neutral. And when we die, [23:14] you know, it's kind of a crapshoot [23:15] whether we go to heaven or hell, [23:17] depending on how nice we are while here [23:20] on planet Earth. No, when we enter this [23:23] world, we enter alienated from God. We [23:26] are like prisoners on death row awaiting [23:30] our final execution. [23:32] But Jesus Christ came that first time to [23:35] be our savior, to offer us a pardon from [23:38] our sins, a stay of execution, if you [23:40] will, if we'll accept his forgiveness. [23:43] He came the first time to be our savior. [23:46] But [23:47] if we leave this world without receiving [23:50] that pardon from sin, we will face him [23:53] one day as our judge, just as those will [23:57] at the end time when they see him coming [23:59] and riding on that great white horse. [24:04] The second coming of Jesus Christ [24:08] will be the worst day of your life [24:14] if you have to face him as your judge. [24:18] But the second coming of Jesus Christ [24:21] will be the best day [music] of your [24:23] life if you receive his forgiveness now. [24:27] And when you see him, know that is the [24:30] first day of the great future he has [24:33] planned for you. [24:36] [music] [24:40] The choice of course is entirely yours. [24:43] But as the Bible says, today is the day [24:46] of salvation. And it's my prayer that [24:48] you'll take your first steps toward [24:50] Jesus Christ today. Helping people take [24:53] that step is why Pathway to Victory [24:55] exists. And this year, we're celebrating [24:58] 30 years of ministry. 30 years of [25:00] opening the Bible and proclaiming God's [25:03] truth without apology. The message that [25:06] launched this ministry in 1996 is still [25:09] [music] changing lives today. And your [25:11] gift is what keeps it going out every [25:13] single day. Thank you for investing in [25:16] the [music] years still ahead. Together, [25:18] we are piercing the darkness with the [25:21] light of God's [music] word. Now, please [25:22] stay right there. I'll be back with more [25:24] Pathway to Victory in just a moment. [25:27] >> Our world is growing darker by the day. [25:30] But the book of Revelation teaches that [25:32] one day soon the darkness will pass and [25:34] our long- awaited [music] King of Kings [25:36] and Lord of Lords will return and make [25:39] his final conquest. The book of [25:41] Revelation isn't [music] just the [25:43] unveiling of future events. It's the [25:45] unveiling of a person, Jesus Christ. And [25:49] in Final Conquest, [music] my exclusive [25:52] commentary on Revelation, you'll [25:54] discover the great hope we have in the [25:56] triumphant return of our Lord Jesus [25:59] Christ. [26:01] Request your copy of Final Conquest when [26:03] you give a generous gift to support the [26:05] ministry of Pathway to Victory or when [26:07] you become a Pathway partner. And when [26:10] your ministry gift is $125 or more, [26:13] we'll also send you Dr. Jefferson's [26:15] book, Mysteries of the End Times, a [26:18] clear guide to your questions about the [26:20] rapture, the tribulation, and the return [26:22] of Christ, along with the complete final [26:25] conquest teaching series on DVD video [26:27] and MP3 format audio disc. [26:29] >> And these line up exactly with the seven [26:32] sealed judgments we see in Revelation [26:36] 6. In light of current events and with [26:39] the return of Christ so clearly on the [26:41] horizon, sharing the gospel through [26:43] Pathway to Victory has never been more [26:45] important or more urgent. [music] So, [26:47] thank you for supporting Pathway to [26:49] Victory as together we pierce the [26:51] darkness of our day with the light of [26:53] God's word. [26:57] Revelation chapter 19 describes two very [27:00] [music] different invitations. The [27:02] first, the invitation to the wedding [27:04] supper of the lamb is an offer to be [27:06] coveted. The second, an invitation to [27:09] the supper of God is an offer to be [27:12] dreaded. Which one [music] will you [27:14] receive? It's up to you. And when Jesus [27:18] Christ returns to earth, he will [27:19] inaugurate a brand new kingdom, the [27:22] fulfillment of over 1,800 prophecies [27:24] [music] found in scripture. Stay tuned [27:27] for a preview of what's coming up next [27:28] in our series, Final Conquest. [27:33] You know, often we chide [27:36] the Jewish people, the Israelites, for [27:38] missing the coming of the Lord Jesus [27:41] Christ. They were absolutely justified [27:44] in believing that when Messiah came, he [27:47] would come as a king and that he would [27:48] establish a literal physical kingdom on [27:51] the earth. The problem with the Jewish [27:54] people at that time was they didn't [27:56] understand there would be two comingings [27:57] of the Messiah.
