Transcript [00:05] Shalom and shatba. [00:07] Here we are in a brand new Torah cycle. [00:11] We just finished sing. We just finished [00:14] the reading of the Torah and we are in a [00:17] brand new Hebrew year. And so I've got a [00:20] new plan for us this year. And it's a [00:22] plan where every week we will as we go [00:26] through these 52 weeks of this coming [00:28] year, we will touch every book in the [00:30] Bible in some way. Some just really [00:33] interesting verses. We will get through [00:35] the whole touching the whole Bible by [00:37] the end of this year. So every week I [00:40] want to at least touch on an uh Tanakh [00:43] scripture, one from the New Covenant, [00:46] one from Psalms and one from Proverbs. [00:48] This week this is what I've got planned. [00:50] Genesis 1:es 26-31, [00:54] chapter 12:es 1-3 and chapter 15:es 1-6 [00:58] in the book of Matthew 5:es 1-16, [01:02] chapter 6:es 9-13, Psalm 1 and Proverbs [01:06] 1:7. [01:08] As we are reading through these [01:10] scriptures, I would like to ask you to [01:13] be ask yourself the question, what did I [01:17] just learn about God from these verses? [01:20] And what would God be expecting from me? [01:26] Now that I have learned this, let's get [01:28] started. Genesis 1:26 [01:32] Then God said, "Let us make man in our [01:36] image, according to our likeness, and [01:40] let them rule over the fish of the sea, [01:42] and over the birds of the sky, and over [01:44] the cattle, and over all the earth, and [01:47] over every creeping thing that creeps on [01:49] the earth." God created man in his own [01:52] image. In the image of God, he created [01:57] him. male and female. He created them. [02:03] God blessed them. And God said to them, [02:06] "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the [02:09] earth and subdue it and rule over the [02:12] fish of the sea and over the birds of [02:13] the sky and over every living thing that [02:15] moves on the earth." Then God said, [02:17] "Behold, I have given you every plant [02:19] yielding seed that is on the surface of [02:21] all the earth, and every tree which has [02:23] fruit yielding seed, it shall be food [02:25] for you. and to every beast of the [02:27] earth, and to every bird of the sky, and [02:29] to everything that moves on the earth, [02:31] which has life. I have given every green [02:34] plant for food." And it was so. God saw [02:39] all that he had made. And behold, it was [02:43] very good. And there was evening, and [02:45] there was morning, the sixth day. [02:49] Moving on to Genesis 15:es [02:53] 1-6. Oh, no. Well, sorry. Genesis 12:es [02:57] 1-3. [02:59] Now the Lord said to Avam, "Go forth [03:03] from your country and from your [03:05] relatives and from your father's house [03:08] to the land which I will show you, and I [03:12] will make you a great nation, and I will [03:16] bless you and make your name great. And [03:21] so you shall be a blessing. And I will [03:24] bless those who bless you. And I and the [03:27] one who curses you I will curse. And in [03:30] you [03:32] all the families of the earth will be [03:35] blessed. How beautiful is that? The like [03:39] a a promise that God was going to bless [03:42] the whole earth through this man [03:44] Abraham. And we know that happened [03:46] because the Messiah, Yeshua, came [03:49] through him. And now in chapter 15 of [03:54] Genesis verses 1-6. [03:58] After these things, the word of the Lord [04:00] came to Aram in a vision, saying, "Do [04:03] not fear Aram. I am a shield to you. [04:07] Your reward shall be very great." Aram [04:10] said, "Oh Lord God, what will you give [04:13] me since I am childless and the heir of [04:16] my house is Eleazar of Damascus?" And [04:19] Avram said, "Since you have given no [04:22] offspring to me, one born in my house is [04:26] my he my heir." Then behold, the word of [04:29] the Lord came to him, saying, "This man [04:31] will not be your heir, but one who will [04:34] come forth from your own body, he shall [04:38] be your heir." And he, meaning God, took [04:41] him outside and said, "Now look toward [04:44] the heavens and count the stars, if you [04:47] are able to count them." And he said to [04:50] him, "So shall your descendants be." and [04:54] he believed in the Lord and he reckoned [04:58] it to him as righteousness. How [05:01] beautiful is that? Okay, let's go into [05:05] Matthew. [05:08] We are going to start in verse 5 and [05:11] verse one. When Yeshua saw the crowds, [05:13] he went up on the mountain. And after he [05:16] sat down, his disciples came to him. He [05:19] opened his mouth and began to teach [05:21] them, saying, "Blessed are the poor in [05:24] spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of [05:26] heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for [05:30] they shall be comforted. Blessed are the [05:33] gentle, for they shall inherit the [05:36] earth. Blessed are those who hunger and [05:39] thirst for righteousness, for they shall [05:42] be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, [05:45] for they shall receive mercy. Blessed [05:47] are the pure in heart, for they shall [05:49] see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, [05:52] for they shall be called sons of God. [05:55] Blessed are those who have been [05:57] persecuted for the sake of [05:58] righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom [06:01] of heaven. Blessed are you when people [06:03] insult you and persecute you and falsely [06:06] say all kinds of evil against you [06:08] because of me. Rejoice and be glad, for [06:11] your reward in heaven is great. For in [06:14] the same way they persecuted the [06:16] prophets who were before you. You are [06:19] the salt of the earth. But if the salt [06:22] has become tasteless, how can it be made [06:24] salty again? It is no longer good for [06:27] anything except to be thrown out and [06:30] trampled underfoot by men. You are the [06:33] light of the world. A city set on a hill [06:37] cannot be hidden. Nor does anyone light [06:40] a lamp and put it under a basket, but on [06:42] the lampstand, and it gives light to all [06:45] who are in the house. Let your light [06:49] shine before men in such a way that they [06:53] may see your good works and glorify your [06:57] father who is in heaven. Let's move to [07:01] Psalm chapter 1. [07:04] How blessed is the man who does not walk [07:07] in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand [07:09] in the path of sinners, nor sit in the [07:11] seat of scoffers, but his delight is in [07:15] the law of the Lord. And in his law he [07:19] meditates day and night. He will be like [07:22] a tree firmly planted by streams of [07:25] water, which yields its fruit in season, [07:27] and its leaf does not wither. And in [07:29] whatever he does, he prospers. The [07:32] wicked are not so. that they are like [07:34] chaff which the wind drives away. [07:36] Therefore, the wicked will not stand in [07:39] the judgment, nor sinners in the [07:40] assembly of the righteous. For the Lord [07:43] knows the way of the righteous, but the [07:45] way of the wicked will perish. And [07:48] finally, let's finish up with Proverbs [07:52] 1 verse 7. The fear of the Lord is the [07:57] beginning of knowledge. [08:00] Fools despise wisdom and instruction. [08:05] Let us be those who love wisdom and [08:08] instruction and love and seek the fear [08:11] of the Lord. May God bless you as we [08:15] move into this new Hebrew year reading [08:19] the word and loving it and seeking our [08:22] God. Shalom.
