[00:00]
And joining us to make the case for
[00:02]
keeping Republicans in the majority, the
[00:05]
Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, who
[00:07]
joins us live from Pennsylvania. Mr.
[00:09]
Speaker, welcome in to the Scott
[00:10]
Chenning Show.
[00:11]
>> Scott, so good to be with you and great
[00:13]
to hear your very important voice in
[00:15]
these times, my friend.
[00:16]
>> Well, good to hear your voice and uh
[00:18]
good to know you're in Pennsylvania.
[00:20]
Number of races going on out there. I
[00:22]
think you uh are hitting several
[00:23]
districts today. Why don't you start
[00:25]
with giving us an update on your travels
[00:27]
uh throughout Pennsylvania today?
[00:29]
Thanks, brother. Yes, we are on the
[00:31]
campaign trail. We're 28 days away from
[00:34]
the most important midterm in the
[00:35]
history of America. That is not campaign
[00:37]
rhetoric. Everybody knows this is real.
[00:39]
Contrast election. So, between now and
[00:41]
election day, I'm going to be in 40 more
[00:43]
districts across 22 states. I mean, I've
[00:45]
been doing this all year. We've got much
[00:47]
more left to do. And uh today, I'm in
[00:49]
I'm doing events, campaign events in
[00:50]
five cities across Pennsylvania, a very
[00:52]
important state for us. And I'll be with
[00:54]
I have been with Congressman Scott Perry
[00:55]
and Bryant Fitzpatrick already today.
[00:57]
and I'm headed to Ryan McKenzie and Rob
[00:59]
Gresahan's districts and we feel very
[01:02]
very bullish about this election. My
[01:03]
friend,
[01:04]
>> you've been traveling all over the
[01:05]
country, Mr. Speaker. You've been
[01:07]
meeting voters everywhere. What are you
[01:09]
hearing from the people out there?
[01:10]
Obviously, economy, affordability, these
[01:13]
are the top issues in all the polls, but
[01:15]
I'm interested in your direct
[01:16]
conversations when you're out there
[01:17]
talking to voters. What are they telling
[01:19]
you?
[01:20]
>> Well, if people get it, okay, they
[01:22]
understand the stakes are so high. They
[01:23]
understand this is a a midterm unlike
[01:25]
any other. This one really does decide
[01:27]
the fate of the country. And Scott, if
[01:29]
somebody had told you and I 10 years ago
[01:31]
that on the 250th anniversary of the
[01:33]
greatest nation in the history of the
[01:34]
world in November of 2026 in a midterm
[01:36]
election, we would have the decision
[01:38]
before the American people on whether
[01:40]
we're going to keep the republic or go
[01:41]
down this dark, dangerous road to
[01:43]
communism. I I would have rejected that
[01:45]
thought. I you would have as well. None
[01:46]
of us could have foreseen this. But here
[01:48]
we are. And that's exactly what we're
[01:49]
facing and what I'm seeing with my own
[01:51]
eyes. Okay? I'm just going to suggest to
[01:53]
you, you can disregard all the national
[01:55]
polling. It has been inaccurate for many
[01:58]
cycles in a row. We all know that
[02:00]
they're oversampling Democrats and
[02:02]
they're under sampling Republicans
[02:03]
through Republican voters because they
[02:05]
don't respond to polls anymore. And some
[02:06]
of them are beginning to admit that Pew
[02:08]
Research admitted that a couple weeks
[02:09]
ago. U so set this polling aside, what
[02:12]
I'm seeing with my own eyes, and I'm
[02:13]
going to swing districts and the places
[02:15]
where we're in very tight races. There
[02:17]
is an energy on the ground. There's an
[02:19]
understanding that that people know
[02:21]
what's at stake and they are not willing
[02:23]
to turn our country over to the Marxist
[02:25]
and I feel very very good about this.
[02:26]
We're seeing energy excitement. We have
[02:28]
a fundraising advantage. We have a a far
[02:30]
superior candidates in the field and a
[02:32]
great record to run on. You put all that
[02:33]
together, I think we're going to have a
[02:34]
great November.
[02:36]
Regarding the U debate that's being had
[02:39]
on the economy out there, I think
[02:41]
Republicans uh ought to really think
[02:43]
about leaning in here because I think
[02:45]
Democrats have gotten away with a great
[02:47]
farce during this election cycle, which
[02:49]
is that the prices that people are mad
[02:51]
about have anything to do with Donald
[02:52]
Trump at all. Most of the price
[02:54]
increases that people are mad about
[02:56]
happened on Democrats watch. President,
[02:58]
according to the latest USDA data, has
[03:00]
largely tamed food and grocery inflation
[03:03]
rates. Uh but all these price increases
[03:06]
came under Democratic rule and now
[03:07]
Democrats are asking for people to put
[03:09]
them back in charge. Do you feel like
[03:11]
our Republican candidates are leaning
[03:13]
into that debate and trying to remind
[03:15]
voters there's two parties, two visions
[03:17]
and you got to remember who put us here
[03:18]
in the first place?
[03:20]
>> Exactly right. Uh and they are and I'm
[03:22]
telling you in the in the 22 districts
[03:24]
more or less that are going to decide
[03:26]
the fate of the republic and the
[03:28]
majority in the House u these candidates
[03:30]
are making this case very effectively
[03:31]
and they're they're leading with the
[03:33]
facts. Scott, you're exactly right.
[03:34]
Republicans inherited a gigantic mess in
[03:37]
every metric of public policy. After
[03:39]
four years of Biden Harris, we had to
[03:41]
fix the Democrat failures. I mean, from
[03:43]
wide open borders to 40year high 9.1%
[03:46]
inflation to $5 gasoline. We know the
[03:49]
job's not done. But look at the record
[03:51]
of what we've been able to accomplish. I
[03:52]
mean, even with a razor thin majority in
[03:54]
the House and with obstructionist
[03:56]
Democrats trying to stop us at every
[03:58]
turn. Remember they shut down the
[03:59]
federal government for 120 days just in
[04:02]
the last uh you know this cycle last 18
[04:05]
19 months. That's that's a record. In
[04:07]
spite of all that we have delivered
[04:09]
common sense and it you know the the big
[04:12]
achievement of course the $4.6 trillion
[04:14]
in tax cuts delivered. It's the largest
[04:17]
middle and working class tax cut ever.
[04:19]
We cut $1.6 trillion in rooting out
[04:22]
fraud and waste spending. We we we we
[04:25]
have reversed all these bid era massive
[04:28]
regulations that were burdensome and and
[04:30]
and defied common sense and hurt the
[04:31]
economy. Got we got we cut tax and
[04:34]
overtime and social security and put
[04:36]
more money in everybody's pocket.
[04:38]
Thousands of dollars depending on what
[04:39]
state you're in. Um huge uh benefits for
[04:42]
working families. We got the lowest
[04:44]
violent crime rate in 126 years. We have
[04:46]
the most secure border in a half
[04:47]
century. We haven't had a single illegal
[04:49]
alien released in the country in over 16
[04:51]
straight months. We've got Trump
[04:53]
accounts for every child. We had first
[04:54]
ever nationwide school choice program.
[04:56]
The biggest drop in prescription drug
[04:58]
prices in 60 years. We got companies
[05:00]
bringing manufacturing back to America
[05:02]
and we added a million private sector
[05:04]
jobs. Inflation has held steady. It
[05:06]
needs to come down further. We have the
[05:07]
policies in place to do it. The wages
[05:09]
are going up. We have more Americans
[05:11]
working right now than in generations.
[05:13]
Everything's moving in the right
[05:14]
direction. And the idea that we would
[05:15]
turn that right now over to a bunch of
[05:17]
socialists is crazy talk. I mean they
[05:19]
their solution to everything as you know
[05:21]
you you smoke them out on TV all the
[05:23]
time. They just want to grow government.
[05:25]
They want government to control every
[05:27]
aspect of your lives and provide you
[05:28]
everything. You have to give up your
[05:30]
freedom for that to happen. And it leads
[05:31]
to human misery and suffering every time
[05:33]
it's tried in history. That is not who
[05:35]
we are as Americans.
[05:36]
>> That voice you're hearing the speaker of
[05:38]
the house, Mike Johnson, who's out
[05:40]
driving around Pennsylvania today
[05:41]
campaigning to retain a Republican
[05:43]
majority in the house and we're grateful
[05:45]
for his time today. Mr. Speaker, I want
[05:48]
to hone in on the issue of immigration.
[05:50]
Uh I know everybody uh sort of wants to
[05:53]
uh say maybe this is solved and this has
[05:55]
fallen down the list uh of things that
[05:57]
people care about, but I'm not so sure
[06:00]
because I think this issue is one of the
[06:02]
starkkest differences between the two
[06:03]
parties. Republicans closed the border.
[06:06]
Republicans are trying to get rid of
[06:08]
violent illegal aliens out of the
[06:09]
country. And Democrats have the literal
[06:11]
exact opposite position. Open the border
[06:13]
and keep everyone here. And on top of
[06:15]
that, put as many on welfare as
[06:17]
possible. Do you still see the
[06:19]
immigration differences between the two
[06:21]
parties as being potent in the debate
[06:23]
over the next month?
[06:25]
>> It is. And and the reason we're enjoying
[06:27]
those lowest ever violent crime rates
[06:29]
126 years is because we came back and
[06:31]
restored common sense. We got back to
[06:33]
the the rule of law, these basic
[06:35]
principles that have been part of the
[06:38]
reason that America has become the
[06:39]
greatest nation in the history of the
[06:40]
world uh over 250 years. We got to get
[06:42]
back to it. The barbarians on the other
[06:44]
side are inside the gate. They remember
[06:46]
when when Reagan and previous
[06:48]
generations of leaders used to warn us
[06:49]
about Marxists and that philosophy. They
[06:52]
were talking about a threat on this
[06:54]
shore. We have these people now running
[06:55]
for Congress and they've won primaries
[06:58]
around the the country and some of them
[07:00]
are going to be elected to the House.
[07:01]
Okay. They put their their policy and
[07:04]
platform ideas on paper and it's exactly
[07:06]
what you just said, Scott. the DSA,
[07:09]
Democrat Socialist of America. That's
[07:10]
that's that's who's guiding the Democrat
[07:12]
party there on Washington. They want to
[07:13]
abolish the border, police, and prisons.
[07:16]
Okay? They want mass amnesty for anybody
[07:18]
who can claw their way across the
[07:19]
border. They make no exception for
[07:21]
dangerous criminals, murderers, you
[07:23]
know, rapists, child traffickers. It's
[07:25]
immaterial because they don't believe in
[07:26]
borders at all. They would shred the
[07:28]
Constitution. They want to defund the
[07:29]
Department of War. the the the the very
[07:32]
elements that maintain the rule of law
[07:33]
and keep crime low and your streets
[07:35]
safer, they want to defund. We can't do
[07:38]
that. And and when you put that stark
[07:40]
contrast in front of the people, they
[07:42]
make the right choice. Another thing
[07:43]
Reagan used to remind us, you can trust
[07:45]
the American people. When they are given
[07:47]
the facts, they will do the right thing.
[07:49]
And that's our challenge right now is to
[07:50]
make sure the facts are out there,
[07:51]
understanding that the mainstream media
[07:54]
is advancing the cause of the Democrats
[07:55]
and the false narrative every single
[07:56]
day.
[07:58]
That voice you're hearing, the speaker
[07:59]
of the house, Mike Johnson. We'll have
[08:00]
more with him in just a moment. He's
[08:02]
joining us live from the road in
[08:03]
Pennsylvania today. Quick word from our
[08:06]
friends at Relief Factor. You know,
[08:07]
you've been hearing me talk about Relief
[08:09]
Factor for over a year now here on the
[08:10]
Scott Chenning Show. But they have a new
[08:12]
product and it's for another member of
[08:13]
your family. It's for your dog and they
[08:15]
call it Friend Factor. If you've got a
[08:17]
dog who's a little older, having trouble
[08:19]
getting around, maybe not wanting to go
[08:21]
on as many walks or jump up in the truck
[08:22]
as quickly as they used to, I want to
[08:25]
make a recommendation. Try out friend
[08:27]
factor. They have these uh thoughtfully
[08:29]
selected ingredients that support a
[08:30]
healthy inflammatory response in your
[08:33]
dog. This supports mobility and an
[08:35]
active lifestyle. I would recommend you
[08:37]
get your no not get fetch fetch your
[08:41]
first bag of friend factor today. Go to
[08:44]
relief factor.com and check out the
[08:47]
friend factor. It's a good treat for
[08:48]
your dog and it will help them as they
[08:50]
get a little bit older. More with the
[08:52]
speaker of the house, Mike Johnson. When
[08:53]
we come back, it's Scott Jennings on
[08:55]
Salem. Stay with us. These campaigns out
[08:57]
fighting the fight is the speaker of the
[08:58]
house, Mike Johnson. He's in
[09:01]
Pennsylvania. He joins us live here on
[09:03]
the Scott Jennings show. Mr. Speaker, I
[09:05]
want to paint uh a little bit of a bleak
[09:08]
picture here. Let's say, and I'm not
[09:12]
sure it's going to happen, but let's say
[09:14]
Democrats and Hakee Jeff take over the
[09:17]
House next year. How sure are you that
[09:19]
they would immediately move to impeach
[09:21]
President Trump?
[09:23]
It's guaranteed probably on the first
[09:25]
day, first or second day. Remember,
[09:27]
they've already filed articles of
[09:28]
impeachment in this Congress. I mean,
[09:30]
they're raring to go. Uh, and that's
[09:32]
what you could expect. This is not going
[09:33]
to happen. Let's just paint this
[09:35]
alternative world, okay? Because I'm
[09:37]
convinced, Scott, we can hold this
[09:38]
majority, okay? It's not going to be a
[09:40]
giant majority, but we'll hold it. Defy
[09:41]
history and do it. It's only happened
[09:43]
twice in 90 years that a sitting
[09:44]
president's picked up seats for his
[09:45]
party in that first two-year cycle, but
[09:47]
we're the team that defies history and
[09:49]
uh, you know, makes history all the
[09:50]
time. So, I I think we'll do it. But
[09:51]
let's let's say we didn't. Heaven
[09:52]
forbid, okay, the radical left, the
[09:55]
insurgent left that has taken over the
[09:56]
Democrat party would also take over the
[09:58]
agenda. They would not be even working
[10:00]
to pass legislation because, of course,
[10:02]
President Trump would remain in the
[10:03]
White House. They would turn every
[10:04]
committee of Congress into an
[10:05]
investigative body. Impeachment would
[10:07]
just be the start, my friend. They would
[10:08]
they would go after and investigate
[10:10]
every waking hour, the president, the
[10:12]
first family, his cabinet, donors of the
[10:15]
party. They'll go after, you know,
[10:16]
leaders of industry and business. I
[10:18]
mean, it will be lawfare on steroids
[10:20]
like unlike anything we've ever seen.
[10:22]
And and you have to ask yourself, if
[10:23]
you're a voter, what would that mean for
[10:25]
your family? That turmoil in Congress
[10:27]
would royal the markets. It would unwind
[10:29]
all the great strides and all the all
[10:31]
the the foundation we put in place to
[10:32]
make the economy keep growing and and uh
[10:34]
take off like a rocket. And it would
[10:36]
empower our enemies around the world at
[10:38]
the most dangerous time. We cannot do
[10:40]
that. And that is exactly what you would
[10:42]
get under Democrat leadership in the
[10:44]
House. And that's why we got to hold it
[10:45]
for common sense.
[10:47]
Let's talk about our enemies around the
[10:49]
world, specifically our enemy Iran. Uh,
[10:51]
their economy is obviously spiraling out
[10:54]
of control. Their currency is worthless.
[10:57]
Their military is defeated. Their navies
[10:58]
at the bottom of the ocean. Their
[11:01]
neighbors in the Middle East are allied
[11:02]
against them. They haven't exported a
[11:04]
drop of oil since mid July. It's
[11:06]
apparent the United States has won the
[11:08]
battle of the Strait of Hormuz. Yet, I
[11:10]
hear Democrats every day, Mr. speaker
[11:12]
calling on the United States of America
[11:14]
to surrender to Iran. Why can't
[11:17]
Democrats accept that Donald Trump was
[11:19]
right and that the United States has
[11:21]
defeated the Iranians here and that the
[11:24]
oil is flowing and that we're safer
[11:25]
because of it?
[11:27]
>> Because Trump derangement syndrome
[11:29]
clouds their judgment on on everything.
[11:31]
I I told the president a couple nights
[11:32]
ago, I said, "Mr. President, if you came
[11:34]
out tonight and announced a cure to
[11:35]
cancer, good news, America, we have
[11:37]
cured cancer. We just need Congress to
[11:38]
codify one section of law." I think
[11:40]
every Democrat in Congress would vote
[11:41]
against the cure to cancer because they
[11:42]
just don't want him to get any credit or
[11:44]
a win for anything. That's why they've
[11:46]
obstructed everything in this Congress
[11:47]
already. And yet we have this great
[11:48]
record. But with regard to Iran, you
[11:50]
have to remember it's not just a
[11:52]
Republican objective. It has been the
[11:54]
objective of every administration for
[11:56]
the last 50 years almost that we could
[11:58]
not have Iran with a nuclear weapon.
[12:00]
They're the largest state sponsor of
[12:01]
terrorism. That would be a threat to
[12:02]
freedom of Americans, the the the safety
[12:04]
and security of Americans and of course
[12:07]
our allies around the world. When it got
[12:09]
so close to nuclear capability, the
[12:11]
president had no choice in the matter.
[12:12]
We had to take that action. This the
[12:14]
operation epic fury was an epic success.
[12:16]
The Hermuz agreed we we have prevailed.
[12:20]
Now we have to wind this thing down. The
[12:21]
Iranians are not trustworthy negotiating
[12:23]
partners. Of course, they lie as some of
[12:26]
them as part of their religion. They can
[12:27]
justify them as their religion to the
[12:28]
infidels. And they're they're not they
[12:31]
don't want to resolve this. You have
[12:32]
jihadis in charge who they they will
[12:35]
literally fight to the death and try to
[12:36]
kill everybody who disagrees with them.
[12:38]
So where does that leave us? What it's
[12:39]
going to result in, I think very soon,
[12:41]
we're going to in a new phase because
[12:42]
you're right, their economy has
[12:43]
collapsed. They have nothing left. Scott
[12:45]
Besset, the president, everybody who's
[12:47]
keeping tabs on this and keeping us up
[12:48]
to date, keep the American people up to
[12:49]
date. Exactly right. Um I think that we
[12:52]
turn a corner here very soon. I think
[12:54]
they're trying to outlast the president
[12:55]
to the election thinking that it will do
[12:56]
him some harm. But I think the smart
[12:59]
people and the American people are
[13:00]
paying attention. They understand what's
[13:01]
going on here. Uh, I think Iran's on his
[13:03]
last leg and I think we can ultimately
[13:05]
have a peace in that region which will
[13:06]
be good for Americans and everybody
[13:07]
around the world.
[13:09]
>> That's the speaker of the house, Mike
[13:11]
Johnson from Louisiana. He joins us
[13:13]
today live driving around Pennsylvania.
[13:16]
Mr. Speaker, you're in four or five
[13:18]
different congressional districts today.
[13:20]
Sir, I I don't know if anybody's working
[13:21]
harder for his party than you are right
[13:23]
now, but we're grateful for your time
[13:25]
today and we thank you for joining us on
[13:26]
the show.
[13:27]
>> Glad to be with you, my friend. Keep up
[13:29]
the great work. I tell you all the time,
[13:30]
you're a singular voice and we got to
[13:31]
have you out there. I'm grateful.
[13:33]
>> Thank you, Mr. Speaker, for your time
[13:35]
today. Mike Johnson, Magic Mike. I'm
[13:37]
going to let him go and I'm going to
[13:38]
call him Magic. He hates it when I call
[13:39]
him Magic Mike, but that's what he is.
[13:41]
Magic Mike. He's pulled a lot of rabbits
[13:42]
out, a lot of hats up in Washington
[13:45]
under the dome. We'll see if he can pull
[13:46]
one out here in
