Transcript [00:00] Now, verses 46 continue to talk about [00:02] the motivation for Messianic service or [00:05] serving one another as followers of the [00:07] Messiah. And those verses mainly talk [00:09] about pleasing men [00:12] or people before pleasing God. And as we [00:16] serve God, as we engage in serving one [00:19] another, nothing is more challenging [00:22] than the temptation to please people, [00:25] even people that we love and respect, [00:27] rather than please God. And again, for [00:30] us in Israel, and maybe it's true in [00:32] your environment as well, whenever you [00:34] say you're a follower of Yeshua, of [00:36] Jesus, always, always, always there's a [00:38] measure of rejection. And it can be [00:40] very, very tiring to always explain on [00:43] who you are. And in some ways, there's a [00:45] temptation to say, "Well, not not to say [00:47] anything, really. You just I'm just not [00:49] going to say I'm a follower of Jesus." [00:51] Because then I have to explain, and [00:52] they're going to ask me questions, [00:53] they're going to look about me [00:54] strangely. And so, that is the beginning [00:58] of pleasing people rather than pleasing [01:01] God. And it goes to many, many, many [01:03] different directions, you know, when you [01:05] are younger, it may have to do with [01:08] keeping yourself sexually pure for your [01:10] wife or your husband. Or when you're [01:12] older, is evading tax. Do you actually [01:15] declare all your income? Are you trying [01:17] to evade to to avoid? It just looks [01:19] differently on how we try to please [01:22] people or ourselves and not to please [01:25] God.
The temptation to seek approval can show up in every stage of life. Faithfulness means choosing what honors God even when it costs us acceptance, comfort, or the approval of people we respect.
