[00:00]
And joining us now for more is Hill
[00:01]
Neer. He is the executive director of UN
[00:04]
watch. And of course, this is a busy
[00:07]
time of the year for you, Hill. Plenty
[00:09]
of material there at the UN General
[00:11]
Assembly. Uh let's start with your
[00:13]
comments uh which you put out in a tweet
[00:16]
about in Antonio Gutish who the
[00:20]
secretary general predict predictably
[00:22]
criticized Israel in his address. Uh
[00:25]
maybe just talk about your reaction to
[00:27]
to his remarks. Look, it's not the first
[00:30]
time that he has chosen to make this
[00:32]
kind of comparison where he says that
[00:34]
Israel is doing is doing something
[00:37]
that's the worst he's ever seen is in
[00:39]
his entire life or in his entire tenure.
[00:42]
And the fact is it's false. He says that
[00:45]
what's happening in Gaza is, you know,
[00:46]
the worst situation he's ever seen. Uh
[00:49]
the scale unprecedented from anything
[00:52]
he's witnessed. Well, in in the time
[00:54]
that he's been secretary general,
[00:55]
perhaps he didn't notice, but hundreds
[00:58]
of thousands of people have been killed
[01:00]
in Sudan, in Syria, in Ukraine, in
[01:03]
Yemen, in Ethiopia, and the list goes
[01:06]
on. So, just factually, by any measure,
[01:08]
if you look at Hamas's maximalist
[01:10]
figures, the other situations that I
[01:13]
mentioned are far greater. The other
[01:15]
piece which is significant is that Hamas
[01:17]
invaded Israel. Hamas launched a
[01:19]
massacre on October 7th, killing 1,200
[01:22]
people in one day. The equivalent of 12
[01:25]
9/11 attacks proportionally if you
[01:27]
compare Israel's [snorts] population to
[01:28]
America. Israel responded to destroy
[01:30]
Hamas where innocent people killed. Of
[01:33]
course, every innocent death is tragic.
[01:35]
But Hamas launched a war. They launched
[01:36]
a massacre with genocidal intent.
[01:38]
Gutierrez erases all of that and falsely
[01:42]
says it's the worst he's witnessed. The
[01:44]
only way it's the worst means if he was
[01:46]
willfully blind to everything else
[01:48]
happening in the world. Very sad.
[01:51]
>> All right. Now, Prime Minister Netanyahu
[01:53]
is going to be speaking uh on Thursday.
[01:56]
Uh he's put out a statement already
[01:58]
saying he'll there to go there to tell
[02:00]
the truth about Israel's heroic
[02:02]
soldiers. Presumably, he'll also speak
[02:04]
on Iran and uh uh perhaps on Gaza. Uh he
[02:08]
also said he'll talk about uh New York
[02:10]
Mayor Manni. Uh what do you think the
[02:13]
prime minister what do you think he
[02:14]
should be saying will say and should be
[02:16]
saying there to the GA? [snorts]
[02:19]
>> Well I I think that he is going to make
[02:22]
the case for Israel as he always does. I
[02:24]
think he's certainly going to uh
[02:27]
identify Iran as the head of the snake
[02:29]
which it is in the region. It's the
[02:31]
cause of war and terrorism from Syria to
[02:34]
Lebanon to Gaza to Iraq to Yemen right
[02:37]
now spilling over into Saudi Arabia. So,
[02:40]
I think he's going to certainly talk
[02:41]
about the war in Iran. He's going to
[02:42]
talk about Israel's war against Hamas.
[02:45]
These are all important subjects. He has
[02:47]
a very difficult challenge ahead of him.
[02:49]
Israel's standing in the world is at a
[02:52]
low point. Certainly, Western
[02:53]
democracies, whether it's Britain,
[02:56]
Canada, Australia, and other countries.
[02:58]
We saw France taking an unfair hit at
[03:00]
Israel. We saw Macron just the other
[03:02]
day. I think Netanyahu will hit him
[03:03]
back.
[03:05]
Macron said in French uh basically that
[03:08]
Hamas never ravaged uh the West Bank the
[03:11]
way he did in Gaza. So Israel has no
[03:13]
excuse to act in the West Bank and then
[03:16]
he was attacked for it because of course
[03:17]
Hamas has killed many people in the West
[03:19]
Bank in Judea and Samaria. His office
[03:22]
said that he said Hamas never governed
[03:24]
but that's not the typical use of the
[03:26]
French word according to uh any
[03:28]
dictionary. So I think Macron will get
[03:30]
hit. Let's keep in mind is whitewashing
[03:33]
uh Abbas. He talks about the sovereignty
[03:35]
for the Palestinians. He a year ago uh
[03:38]
defends his decision to recognize the
[03:40]
state of Palestine saying that he's
[03:42]
being criticized for doing something on
[03:43]
paper. It was a fiction. There is no
[03:45]
state of Palestine. And if we talk about
[03:47]
a bus, uh even the mayor of Paris in
[03:49]
France uh stripped Abas of a major award
[03:53]
because of his remarks denying the
[03:56]
Holocaust, justifying Hitler. So you
[03:57]
have the mayor of Paris recognizing that
[03:59]
Abbas is a Holocaust denier. His PhD
[04:02]
from the Soviet Union is on Holocaust
[04:04]
denial. And you have the president of
[04:06]
France, Emanuel Mcron, whitewashing uh
[04:09]
this defender of Hitler. It's rather
[04:12]
shameful.
[04:14]
>> I want to get some of your response to
[04:15]
President Trump's remarks. Uh he was a
[04:18]
bit I want to say restrain when it comes
[04:20]
to President Trump. I mean he certainly
[04:22]
has strong statements about Iran.
[04:24]
Notably, he did not criticize the UN
[04:26]
itself. something he's done in the past,
[04:28]
including last year. I mean, what was
[04:30]
your respon? How did you feel about
[04:32]
President Trump's remarks?
[04:33]
>> Well, I I think President Trump,
[04:36]
interestingly, uh, though in some cases,
[04:38]
he has a sledgehammer on certain issues.
[04:42]
On the UN, it's important to note he's
[04:44]
never said destroy the UN. Even when he
[04:47]
signed executive orders pulling out of
[04:48]
certain UN bodies, he said the UN has
[04:51]
great potential. We need to make it
[04:52]
great again. his ambassador who's very
[04:55]
busy in New York, ambassador Mike Waltz
[04:58]
and Jeff Bartos, the ambassador of UN
[04:59]
reform have cut a lot of money from the
[05:01]
UN budget, but they've talked about
[05:03]
making the UN great again. So, I think
[05:05]
President Trump was consistent with his
[05:07]
narrative. He did at the same time call
[05:09]
out UN human rights officials uh on
[05:11]
certain of the remarks either dealing
[05:13]
with migration or transgender mutilation
[05:16]
as he put it. Um, and let's keep in mind
[05:18]
that there are UN human rights officials
[05:21]
who are, in the words of Gutteras
[05:23]
himself, totally out of control. Whether
[05:25]
it's Franchesca Albanesei who just said
[05:27]
two days ago that uh the Western world
[05:31]
should stop arming Ukraine, basically
[05:34]
allowing Russia to destroy innocent
[05:36]
people in Ukraine. Whether it's the
[05:38]
chairman of the UN human rights
[05:40]
officials, Mr. George Kachugalos who
[05:42]
recently gave a speech where he
[05:44]
mentioned China 32 times yet not once
[05:47]
criticized China or Xi Jinping didn't
[05:50]
mention 1 million wiggers locked up
[05:52]
didn't mention 6,000 Tibetan temples
[05:54]
destroyed didn't mention Hong Kong
[05:56]
democracy extinguished and 78-year-old
[05:59]
pro-democracy publisher Jimmy Loy
[06:00]
languishing in prison so there's a lot
[06:02]
to talk about on the UN human rights
[06:04]
officials I'm glad President Trump uh
[06:06]
put a finger on that
[06:07]
>> right uh uh we have just 30 seconds is
[06:10]
Is it worth it for Prime Minister
[06:12]
Netanyahu to speak from the podium at
[06:14]
the UN General Assembly given all the
[06:15]
Israel bashing there? [snorts]
[06:17]
>> Yes, it you can't escape uh the world.
[06:21]
This is the world as it is. It's a
[06:22]
tremendous forum. Uh Prime Minister
[06:24]
Netanyahu is a very accomplished
[06:27]
speaker. So, it's a unique opportunity
[06:29]
to address the world. He's obviously, of
[06:30]
course, addressing the Israeli people.
[06:32]
He has an election coming up. You may be
[06:34]
looking at his domestic audience more
[06:35]
than anything, but for Israel, it's a
[06:37]
tremendous opportunity to make its case
[06:38]
before the world. And I hope Prime
[06:40]
Minister Netanyahu
[06:42]
will use felicitus language and eloquent
[06:45]
language uh to make Israel's case as the
[06:47]
only democracy in the Middle East
[06:48]
fighting to defend itself from
[06:50]
terrorists.
