[00:01]
Hi everyone and uh
[00:05]
shata is still a good time to say I hope
[00:07]
you had a great time here in Israel over
[00:11]
um also settling in after aliyah but um
[00:14]
I do hope you had an enjoyable time and
[00:17]
my name is Zev le and I am one of the
[00:20]
adviserss in the nefalia
[00:24]
answers and advocacy department and
[00:28]
joined with me here today is Tippi Tippy
[00:30]
Hopenheimer who's a senior adviser in
[00:33]
the department and she will be
[00:35]
co-piloting this Zoom session and uh you
[00:38]
could also notice that she'll put in
[00:40]
different um pieces of information
[00:43]
useful links in the chat and also answer
[00:45]
any questions that you have in the chat.
[00:49]
Um
[00:50]
and before we jump right in um I will
[00:55]
say that um this Zoom session is one of
[00:58]
the many different services that we
[01:00]
offer. You can find that um other than
[01:03]
these first steps, we have first of all
[01:06]
the answers hotline and email um that
[01:08]
CPA already shared in the chat. We are
[01:11]
available between 9:00 a.m. until 5:00
[01:14]
pm Sunday through Thursday
[01:17]
and we are happy to assist and answer
[01:19]
any questions in navigating anything
[01:21]
that you come across as you settle in in
[01:23]
Israel. You could also expect monthly
[01:26]
emails that include important and useful
[01:29]
information as you move along um
[01:32]
settling in Israel. And we also have
[01:36]
other services available such as
[01:38]
translation station in our Jerusalem and
[01:40]
Tel Aviv offices with pre-registration.
[01:43]
Um and we have um as well the regional
[01:48]
coordinators
[01:50]
um spread around the country who may
[01:52]
have already contacted you or maybe will
[01:55]
contact you soon enough. Um now that
[01:58]
we're starting the uh the longer routine
[02:02]
after uh Khagim and the regional
[02:04]
coordinators um do reach out about once
[02:07]
a month and they share local resources
[02:10]
and um just a quick uh check-in during
[02:14]
the your first year after aliyah and we
[02:17]
are and they are part of our um of our
[02:21]
team and we are here the answers team
[02:24]
again available with any questions that
[02:27]
you have. Um, now I'll just start and
[02:30]
share my screen.
[02:43]
Okay. Um, does everybody see my screen?
[02:49]
Okay. Um so as we move along um I will
[02:55]
go through different sections of this
[02:56]
guide that you may have received already
[02:58]
and um um TP could also share a link in
[03:02]
the chat if you don't have it and a copy
[03:05]
uh a PDF version will be sent with an
[03:07]
email after this session. Um by the way
[03:10]
I'll mention that this is being recorded
[03:12]
and a recording will be sent out with
[03:15]
the email within a few days. So no
[03:17]
worries. And again if there are any
[03:19]
questions or something that you think
[03:21]
about afterwards
[03:23]
then do feel free to reach out to us and
[03:26]
we'll begin. So the uh postalia guide is
[03:30]
a summary of the your first steps after
[03:33]
aliyah and it helps you understand and
[03:37]
navigate those first important steps and
[03:41]
um just help you keep track and see
[03:44]
where you're at. So the first page of
[03:48]
the um sorry
[03:53]
the first page in in the booklet is a
[03:56]
glossery of useful words and different
[04:00]
terms that you will come across and over
[04:02]
time will get used to and learn what
[04:05]
they mean. Um
[04:08]
for example is the National Insurance
[04:10]
Institute. We'll talk about it a little
[04:12]
bit later on. Um you can find words here
[04:16]
such as
[04:18]
which is your aliyah benefit booklet. Um
[04:21]
seph is the paper addendum tier 2. We'll
[04:25]
cover all of those. These are words you
[04:27]
want to be familiar with as you go to
[04:30]
different offices and take your first
[04:31]
steps.
[04:33]
Um now a quick review of things you've
[04:37]
received at the airport when you arrived
[04:40]
in Israel. You received your two o. It
[04:43]
looks like a passport, but it's not
[04:45]
exactly a passport. And this booklet
[04:48]
includes your toad zahoot and your
[04:50]
photo, your date of aliyah, and every
[04:54]
time you want to use one of your aliyah
[04:57]
benefits, you will be required to
[04:59]
present it. Um,
[05:02]
and it also shows your um status, your
[05:05]
aliyah status with different statuses. I
[05:08]
will take this um
[05:11]
um short brief to say that um any the
[05:16]
things we're covering here are the
[05:18]
general more common aliyah steps um but
[05:23]
sometimes depend on your aliyah status.
[05:27]
Some of the steps here could be
[05:29]
different. There are specific notes if
[05:32]
your status is different. anyone with a
[05:34]
previous Israeli status. Um, and just
[05:38]
before we continue, anyone here already
[05:40]
has an Israeli status kin
[05:46]
rings the bell.
[05:49]
>> I'mra.
[05:52]
Okay. So um esra by the way who is not
[05:55]
familiar means that um one of the
[05:58]
parents is Israeli but the ole
[06:01]
themselves were born abroad. Um
[06:05]
okay so most of the things we'll say
[06:08]
will be relevant. There could be some
[06:11]
specific things that might be a little
[06:13]
different but um just keep an eye and
[06:16]
see the notes and if you have any
[06:17]
questions we can also take more specific
[06:19]
questions individually later on. Um, you
[06:23]
also received your temporary toudat
[06:25]
zahoot.
[06:27]
It is temporary not because the number
[06:30]
will change. Your toad zahoot number is
[06:32]
yours forever and it's always the same.
[06:35]
It is temporary for 3 months allowing
[06:38]
you the time to apply for a biometric
[06:40]
2.zahoot. We'll discuss soon.
[06:44]
You also and with your two dot zahoot
[06:46]
the temporary 2.0 You received a piece
[06:48]
of paper, a blue paper that is the
[06:51]
sephak that I mentioned. It is the
[06:53]
addendum. It is part of your two dot
[06:56]
zahoot and you should always carry them
[06:58]
together. Um
[07:02]
and the next piece of paper you received
[07:05]
at the airport is the healthcare
[07:07]
registration form that includes your um
[07:11]
healthcare provider. We will discuss
[07:13]
this uh later on in this session. So,
[07:16]
it's important to have that in hand. And
[07:20]
you also received um
[07:24]
I'm sorry. And you also received a note
[07:28]
of f a future note of bank account,
[07:31]
which is um a piece of paper you will be
[07:35]
taking to the bank of your choice when
[07:37]
you open it. And you also receive the
[07:40]
first part of your salita payments and
[07:44]
the following payments will be um take
[07:48]
will um be transferred to you to your
[07:51]
bank account after your MISA after you
[07:55]
meet with Mislakita. It's the ministry
[07:56]
of integration
[07:58]
and we'll discuss all these things more
[08:01]
in detail shortly. So, just before we'll
[08:05]
start to dive further in, um,
[08:09]
if you do have any questions, you can
[08:11]
either put them in the chat and see if
[08:12]
you can answer them or if you could
[08:15]
please wait until I'm done explaining
[08:18]
and then ask your questions. Some things
[08:20]
may be answered as I'm going along. And
[08:24]
um, do feel free. The idea is to make
[08:27]
sure that you have mo the most knowledge
[08:30]
and tips to navigate your next steps.
[08:36]
So the first step is the biometric to
[08:39]
udat zahoot. As I mentioned the
[08:42]
temporary toad you received include your
[08:44]
permanent toudat zahoot number. It is
[08:47]
your ID number. In Israel IDs are used
[08:50]
very differently than the states. Um
[08:54]
your 2.0 number is something that you uh
[08:58]
provide in different government offices
[09:00]
quite often and sometimes even when you
[09:02]
call us we just might ask could you
[09:04]
please give me your two. Hood number so
[09:06]
I could find your file or if you call
[09:08]
your um um uh phone provider or any
[09:13]
other uh service provider you'll be in
[09:15]
touch with, they might ask for your
[09:17]
2.zahoot.
[09:19]
Um so you always want to have your two.
[09:22]
with you and
[09:25]
applying for the biometric to zahoot is
[09:28]
done with misadhapim
[09:30]
that's the population and immigration
[09:32]
authority in Israel um it also used to
[09:35]
be called ministry ministry of interior
[09:37]
affairs
[09:39]
and that is done through the govil
[09:42]
website and that is a website to
[09:45]
schedule appointments
[09:47]
with um different government offices
[09:51]
And when you go to your appointment,
[09:55]
you will uh they will take your photo
[09:57]
there at place. Yes, CP.
[09:59]
>> Not the gov the gov.l website is not to
[10:01]
schedule appointments. The my visit or
[10:02]
go visit is to schedule the
[10:03]
appointments.
[10:04]
>> Oh, correct. Correct. Sorry. The there
[10:06]
are as we'll go along you'll hear there
[10:08]
are different um government websites and
[10:10]
there are different um online portals
[10:13]
and such. Um so the go visit website is
[10:17]
the correct uh place to schedule your
[10:19]
appointment. Um um and the govil is a
[10:23]
different government website um that
[10:25]
I'll mention later on. Um so at your
[10:28]
toad appointment the biometric toad
[10:31]
appointment you can schedule the
[10:33]
appointment to any misread hapanim
[10:35]
branch that you would like does not have
[10:37]
to be in your city or where you live but
[10:41]
do have in mind that if you will need to
[10:43]
go back to give another document or any
[10:47]
other reason you will need to go to that
[10:50]
same branch until you conclude that
[10:53]
specific application. Every time you
[10:56]
want to do something with Miss Ladapim,
[10:57]
a different appointment could be
[10:59]
scheduled at a different branch of your
[11:01]
choice. Now, appointments are available
[11:05]
and can be made between 7:30 and 9:00
[11:09]
a.m. or 8 and 9:00 a.m. You're more
[11:12]
likely to find appointments and they
[11:14]
really do open. So, you don't need to
[11:16]
wait. If you'd look now, you'll probably
[11:19]
see appointments till mid December,
[11:21]
maybe even after that. And there is no
[11:25]
reason to wait that long. If you look
[11:27]
again early in the morning or sometimes
[11:30]
between 1 and 2:00 p.m., you're more
[11:34]
likely to find appointments. The reason
[11:37]
is each branch
[11:39]
h opens appointments manually and
[11:41]
sometimes appointments get cancelled and
[11:43]
sometimes there are changes. So those
[11:46]
are the better times to check um the go
[11:50]
visit website for appointments. There is
[11:54]
no need for you to wait that long. You
[11:56]
should be able to find an appointment
[11:57]
within about 2 weeks from now. Um also
[12:01]
depends on the branch. If you have the
[12:03]
flexibility to go to a little bit
[12:06]
further out of where you live, you're
[12:08]
more likely to have more options as each
[12:10]
branch has their own um scheduled
[12:14]
appointments.
[12:15]
Now at the appointment itself you they
[12:18]
will take your photo with a special
[12:20]
camera they have there for the biometric
[12:22]
do.zahoot and you will receive a piece
[12:26]
of paper including a fourdigit code and
[12:29]
a tracking number. Once the um once the
[12:34]
Israel post has your biometric 2.zahoot
[12:37]
to deliver to you could use the tracking
[12:40]
number and see where it is. The
[12:42]
fourdigit code is the more important
[12:46]
part. The only way to receive your
[12:48]
biometric tozahoot is by giving the
[12:51]
fourdigit code.
[12:54]
Um
[12:56]
and that is also that is also to
[13:00]
activate your toahut not only to receive
[13:02]
it but also activate it and then it
[13:04]
allows you access to different
[13:07]
government services online such as I
[13:10]
mentioned the govil
[13:12]
um Israel has an online government um
[13:17]
system that is the gov.il I website in
[13:21]
Hebrew it is called Shaltit. It is a
[13:25]
website that once you have a biometric
[13:27]
toz you can sign up and there are
[13:29]
different services and information
[13:31]
individually to you available online and
[13:34]
could save you time in doing a
[13:36]
navigating different steps. The govil
[13:40]
account is also another way for you to
[13:42]
contact Missakita but we'll touch on
[13:44]
that when we get there to talk about
[13:47]
misra.
[13:49]
Um, you could find in the booklet a list
[13:52]
of documents you'll need to have with
[13:54]
you when you go to Misim.
[13:58]
I'd suggest whatever aliyah related
[14:02]
documents you have with you, just bring
[14:03]
everything just in case they want to
[14:06]
take another look or check another piece
[14:08]
of paper that you might have. It's
[14:10]
better to have more documents than you
[14:12]
need than not have something and have to
[14:14]
go back again. Now once you apply
[14:20]
it could take up to four weeks to
[14:22]
receive the biometric 2.zahoot either by
[14:25]
a courier would give you a call and
[14:28]
uh we'll deliver it or it'll go to a
[14:31]
Israel post branch near your registered
[14:34]
address. Madapim
[14:37]
has have this address in the system. If
[14:40]
you know that the address you gave for
[14:42]
your aliyah process might be changed,
[14:46]
then you can let them know. And if you
[14:48]
bring any proof, if you have a signed
[14:50]
lease, for example, of the address that
[14:53]
you're currently living in, they could
[14:54]
update your address and then it's
[14:57]
important to do before applying so it
[14:59]
will be sent to your current address.
[15:04]
Um,
[15:06]
are there any questions regarding to
[15:10]
sahood?
[15:12]
>> No, sounds good.
[15:14]
>> Do you have anything you want to add?
[15:16]
>> Yeah. Yeah, I just wanted to add that.
[15:18]
So, the two people who said I think it
[15:19]
was two people who said they were asim.
[15:23]
So typically you would not have received
[15:24]
a temporary 2.zoot at the airport and
[15:28]
for you it's all the more important to
[15:29]
make your appointment at the misapim to
[15:32]
apply for the biometric 2.adoot and at
[15:34]
the same time apply for a um temporary
[15:37]
toad apply ask for one sometimes the
[15:40]
branches will you know well it'll be
[15:42]
part of their um their routine they'll
[15:44]
give you that temporary tazoot but often
[15:47]
you need to ask for that. So, if there's
[15:49]
the two of you, Daniela and I think it's
[15:51]
Adi and maybe there's somebody else. Um,
[15:53]
who is who did not receive their
[15:54]
temporary two suit at the airport, be
[15:56]
sure to go make the appointment for as
[15:58]
soon as you can bring um, it says in the
[16:00]
list, but bring two pictures. Nobody
[16:02]
else needs to. You should bring two
[16:04]
passport pictures and when you sit down
[16:06]
with the clerk, say, "Hi, I'm here to
[16:07]
apply for my biometric jud."
[16:11]
Just so you understand, the only people
[16:13]
in Israel who get what's known are
[16:16]
khadashim. So, it's not necessarily
[16:18]
something that they do um routinely and
[16:21]
you should be sure to put that on the
[16:22]
table if that's what you're here for for
[16:24]
that appointment. It's the same
[16:26]
appointment. You don't make a special
[16:27]
appointment for the temporary to suit,
[16:29]
but you want to be make it very clear to
[16:31]
the clerk that you you want those two
[16:32]
things to be done. Okay.
[16:36]
>> Thank you, Tippy.
[16:38]
Um
[16:40]
Okay. So, we'll move along.
[16:43]
Oh, I will mention though, and that is
[16:45]
true for the other steps as well, um, an
[16:48]
Israeli phone number. If you do not yet
[16:50]
have an Israeli phone number, do your
[16:52]
best to obtain one as soon as you can.
[16:56]
Um, Miss and other offices, you'll go to
[16:59]
the bank.
[17:02]
Everybody wants to have your Israeli
[17:04]
phone number. They only text and
[17:06]
communicate over Israeli numbers. And if
[17:09]
you don't yet have one, please do make
[17:11]
sure that you do. And once you receive
[17:13]
it, you can also either send us an email
[17:15]
or give us a call. Hi, I just made
[17:17]
aliyah and if I now have my Israeli
[17:19]
number, it is also good for us to have
[17:21]
in the system. So, we can also um be in
[17:25]
touch with you when you reach out to us,
[17:26]
then we know that's you calling
[17:28]
>> or send a quick email. I'll put I'll put
[17:30]
that information again, our phone number
[17:31]
and email, but or send it as a quick
[17:33]
email just so we we if you're not sure
[17:34]
if we have the right number, send it to
[17:36]
us rather too many emails from you or
[17:38]
too much information to be sure that we
[17:39]
do know how to reach you.
[17:42]
Um so now moving in moving forward to
[17:46]
bank. Um if you do not yet have a bank
[17:50]
account in Israel, it is another
[17:51]
important step to do. You don't need
[17:54]
your biometric to do. Zahoot to open a
[17:56]
bank account. You could use your
[17:58]
temporary toad and you could also use
[18:01]
your toudat
[18:02]
for the first 30 days after aliyah. your
[18:06]
first month after aliyah, you could use
[18:08]
your your to
[18:10]
open a bank account. Always better to
[18:13]
have your two.
[18:15]
Um um for sure, but uh for now, those
[18:19]
are the two documents you could use to
[18:22]
open a bank account. And in Israel, the
[18:25]
banking system is very very much
[18:28]
branchbased.
[18:30]
Meaning if you choose a specific bank
[18:33]
and you go to the branch in Jerusalem
[18:37]
that becomes your branch and if you go
[18:40]
to the branch same bank to the branch in
[18:43]
Tel Aviv then you could uh withdraw cash
[18:47]
for example but most of your banking
[18:51]
like actual banking needs will be done
[18:53]
at your specific branch not just
[18:56]
everywhere. I will say though, as I
[18:58]
mentioned, online portals, the bank also
[19:02]
will have an online account for you
[19:04]
where you could do a lot of things
[19:05]
instead of going in person to the bank.
[19:08]
But as you uh make your decision to
[19:11]
which bank you would like to go to, you
[19:14]
would also want to make sure the branch
[19:16]
you're going can open an OLEM account.
[19:21]
opening a bank account involves a little
[19:23]
bit more um documentation
[19:26]
and processing and not every single
[19:28]
branch can do so. Um so it either way it
[19:33]
can take a long it could take a good
[19:35]
amount of time to open the account to
[19:37]
while when you have the appointment but
[19:39]
you do want to make sure that you go to
[19:40]
the right branch. So what you could do
[19:43]
is call the each bank has a main call
[19:46]
center. Call them and ask I have made
[19:48]
aliyah I want to open an account which
[19:50]
branch can I go to near me and they'll
[19:53]
tell you you could also ask if they know
[19:55]
that to have English- speakaking
[19:57]
representatives
[19:59]
and and then that that is the way to go.
[20:04]
You could also ask um if you look for
[20:07]
general recommendations of different
[20:09]
banks, you could also ask um in living
[20:12]
financially smarter in Israel which is a
[20:14]
Facebook group by Rifka Labowitz and a
[20:17]
great great resource for any financial
[20:20]
questions you'll have to hear from other
[20:22]
as well. Now when you go to the bank
[20:26]
um again with your 2.z and your two do
[20:30]
you will be asked uh US citizens will be
[20:33]
asked to provide their social security
[20:35]
number and sometimes clerks might ask
[20:39]
for the actual card. You can try and
[20:41]
explain that social security is that
[20:44]
you're is not something that you just
[20:46]
walk around with, not something that you
[20:48]
just give everywhere, but do expect to
[20:51]
be asked for it. And if needed, ask to
[20:54]
speak with a manager um that you don't
[20:55]
have it, but you do have the number to
[20:58]
give. And you would also be asked to
[21:00]
fill out a W9 form. That is a US
[21:02]
requirement. So that is for you to know.
[21:05]
Um
[21:07]
you should also bring in your um foreign
[21:10]
passport with you and um just ask for
[21:13]
the processing. Now if you already have
[21:16]
a bank account from before your aliyah
[21:19]
you can contact your bank and tell them
[21:21]
hi I've made aliyah I now have my uh
[21:24]
temporary.zahoot how can I switch over
[21:28]
my uh my bank account to show my
[21:30]
2.zahoot instead of my um passport. Um,
[21:34]
that is important. You need to have an
[21:36]
Israeli bank account to receive the rest
[21:39]
of your salita payments. And also a good
[21:42]
thing to have when you're living in a
[21:44]
country to match your the same current
[21:47]
country identification instead of a
[21:49]
foreign identification
[21:52]
um with your passport. Um, now banks you
[21:55]
should also be aware of have charge fees
[21:57]
for practically everything. Um and
[22:02]
you should also ask them being OIM
[22:05]
opening an account what benefits they
[22:07]
offer. Banks are private institutions
[22:09]
but they could they are free to offer
[22:12]
any discounts um for new OIM and they
[22:15]
will need your tool for that. U so it's
[22:18]
also another good thing to have in mind
[22:20]
when you go to the bank. Um are there
[22:23]
any questions regarding banking?
[22:29]
Yeah, I have a quick question. Um, if I
[22:32]
already have a bank account, I just
[22:34]
provided those bank details on the my
[22:36]
aliyah app. Is that fine to do?
[22:40]
>> Um, they will need to see the account
[22:42]
with your Israeli um tozot number. So,
[22:46]
if
[22:47]
>> Yeah. So, I opened it previously because
[22:49]
I was starting a job here. So, they
[22:51]
needed to kind of open it earlier than
[22:53]
when I actually arrived. Um, and I
[22:55]
provided them with my account
[22:57]
confirmation like the one that you
[22:58]
provide for direct deposits. So, do you
[23:00]
think that that's enough?
[23:02]
>> It it's been changing Zev. So, it
[23:04]
depends on the branch. They'll tell you
[23:06]
if it's enough.
[23:08]
>> No, she means for Misakita if it's
[23:10]
enough.
[23:10]
>> Yeah, I know. No, I know. So, for some
[23:12]
it is enough. For some of the branches,
[23:14]
it isn't. Some of the branches are going
[23:15]
to tell you, "No, bring that sheet of
[23:17]
paper in." So, you're going to have to
[23:18]
check. I mean, if you filled it in
[23:20]
because they asked you to fill it in. I
[23:22]
filled it in just because I already had
[23:24]
the banking information and I was
[23:26]
exploring the app and I saw that there
[23:27]
was a spot to fill it in.
[23:28]
>> But it was it was that's fine. It was
[23:30]
after you made aliyah already though.
[23:32]
>> Yeah.
[23:33]
>> Yeah. So I mean you can we is that it's
[23:36]
unusual just because we're hearing more
[23:38]
and more cases where they're like okay
[23:40]
with you filling it in online and that's
[23:42]
enough. Like once upon a time that was
[23:44]
for sure not enough. So I would just say
[23:46]
just you want to make sure that you know
[23:47]
you're getting the money and that that
[23:49]
that they took that and that is enough.
[23:50]
They don't need to see anything
[23:51]
physically. It's hard to give a across
[23:53]
the board answers so far.
[23:55]
>> Got it. Okay.
[23:57]
>> So, I've had a complicated situation
[23:59]
because I also have an account already
[24:01]
and it's in Ephrat. That's where my
[24:04]
lawyer set it up, but I don't want to go
[24:05]
to Ephrat. So, I went to Shalime and he
[24:08]
said, "I'm sorry, you have to go to your
[24:09]
branch."
[24:11]
>> So, branches branches can be changed um
[24:15]
especially if you don't live exactly by
[24:17]
your branch. But the first um there
[24:21]
could be I I can think of one of two
[24:23]
ways to navigate it. One is contact even
[24:27]
online um contact your um
[24:30]
the Ephrat branch and tell them that you
[24:33]
move to Jerusalem and you ask to be
[24:34]
transferred to a different bank to a
[24:36]
different branch. You could also ask
[24:38]
that same branch in Jerusalem, please
[24:42]
pull over my account and then once they
[24:45]
do it, um, change your, um, change your
[24:50]
account to your two. Zahoot number.
[24:52]
>> Um, the other way would be to go to a to
[24:54]
first change it to your two. a hoot
[24:56]
number and then um
[25:00]
>> ask them to move it because you now live
[25:02]
in Jerusalem and you want to have a um a
[25:05]
branch in Jerusalem.
[25:06]
>> But just also be sure that the lawyer
[25:08]
opened it up an account with you as an
[25:10]
Israeli citizen. If it was an account,
[25:12]
>> no, then that has to be then that
[25:14]
definitely needs to be changed. I mean,
[25:16]
I believe that, by the way, Zev, I think
[25:17]
that has to be what everything I've said
[25:19]
is correct as far as switching branches,
[25:21]
but I believe you will need to be in
[25:22]
person to switch it from a non-citizen
[25:25]
to a citizen's account, but you should
[25:27]
be able to do that with the cooperation
[25:29]
of the new branch that you want to open
[25:31]
the account in. They're going to want
[25:33]
your they theoretically want your um
[25:36]
your business. So, they're they should
[25:38]
be the ones who are doing the the leg
[25:39]
work. So, I went in today to Shaim and
[25:43]
he contacted him and they're working on
[25:45]
it, but it's going to take time.
[25:47]
>> It does take time. Mhm. Mhm. The other
[25:49]
thing you can do is just open a second
[25:52]
account, close out the first one that
[25:54]
the lawyer opened and and open a new one
[25:56]
now as an OLA.
[25:58]
>> It will still it will still take it will
[25:59]
still take time. It It does indeed take
[26:01]
time. Yeah,
[26:01]
>> it's complicated cuz my husband's in the
[26:03]
States and I'm here and we already have
[26:05]
things going through the first account.
[26:06]
So, they're discussing, do I need my own
[26:08]
separate account? So, it's all it's all
[26:11]
being worked on right now.
[26:12]
>> Is your husband an Israeli? Did he make
[26:14]
aliyah?
[26:15]
>> He we did split aliyah, but his father
[26:18]
was an Israeli citizen, so he's going to
[26:21]
the consulate to sort things out on his
[26:23]
end, but he's still in the States right
[26:25]
now.
[26:25]
>> No, but if he's not Okay, this is
[26:27]
probably a conversation.
[26:29]
>> I know. I'm sorry.
[26:30]
>> I'm just saying it wasn't easy. It was
[26:33]
not easy.
[26:35]
>> Yes, for sure. everything uh especially
[26:37]
with bureaucracy and definitely with
[26:39]
bureaucracy involving money would take
[26:42]
um a little longer. Um but could be
[26:45]
resolved. That is for sure. And um as
[26:49]
mentioned changing um from a foreign
[26:53]
identification to an Israeli
[26:54]
identification could require you to go
[26:56]
physically into the bank and that would
[26:58]
be your specific branch which is why
[27:01]
originally they told you go to a fat.
[27:03]
>> Yeah. Um the main again all the main
[27:05]
banking needs you have will be in your
[27:08]
specific branch.
[27:10]
>> Um
[27:11]
>> okay
[27:11]
>> so and I will though mention anyone who
[27:14]
is married um then you could also expect
[27:19]
to sign um a right of survivorship form.
[27:23]
In Hebrew it is called
[27:25]
Yamim. That form is in case one of the
[27:29]
spouses um after 120 in good health
[27:33]
passes away, the other would still have
[27:36]
access to the funds in the account even
[27:39]
without or before a probated will. Um
[27:43]
so that is another document you can
[27:45]
expect um to sign if you're married. And
[27:50]
um
[27:51]
>> you do that at the bank?
[27:52]
>> Yes, that is done at the bank. And if
[27:55]
you're married, you also need uh for you
[27:59]
will need a bank account. Your husband
[28:00]
didn't make aliyah yet, but um in
[28:03]
general, I would say that you do need to
[28:05]
have um um one bank account for both of
[28:09]
you for
[28:11]
you. It's a little different. It's a
[28:12]
split aliyah. And we can also uh if you
[28:15]
have further questions, you can reach
[28:16]
out to us by email or give us a call.
[28:18]
>> Okay.
[28:20]
>> More specific. Um okay. Are the other
[28:23]
questions about the bank?
[28:24]
>> Yes. Can you hear me?
[28:26]
>> Yes.
[28:27]
>> Okay. I'm curious. I have um I went last
[28:30]
week and I set up an appointment. I'm
[28:31]
going I think Wednesday
[28:34]
to set up my account. I said an hour.
[28:36]
I'm just curious. You mentioned
[28:40]
they may be able to offer things. I'm
[28:42]
just curious. Should I be on the lookout
[28:43]
for
[28:45]
>> I'm sorry. I heard you're a little uh
[28:47]
distant.
[28:48]
>> Oh, I'm sorry. at the bank, what what
[28:51]
type of offers should I be interested
[28:53]
in? What can they offer me?
[28:55]
>> Oh, sometimes uh sometimes the bank
[28:58]
offers um um no fees, for example, for
[29:02]
different transactions for an x amount
[29:04]
of time for a new. So, um there is
[29:08]
usually there is a minimum
[29:11]
I guess few shekels. I would say no more
[29:14]
than 20 shekels. Uh depends on how much
[29:17]
you use the bank. um for I mean how much
[29:21]
banking needs you have and what is the
[29:22]
charge fee for each of those
[29:26]
>> but um
[29:28]
but sometimes they will just exempt you
[29:31]
from certain fees or give you a discount
[29:33]
on certain on others. Um you could ask
[29:35]
them if they offer any discounts if you
[29:38]
want to uh for example convert dollars
[29:40]
to to shekels if they have better rates
[29:43]
to offer. or is it part of something
[29:45]
they'll give a new O but again the main
[29:48]
document they'll ask for for this is
[29:50]
your 2 o to prove your status and um and
[29:53]
it is up to the bank what they offer and
[29:56]
for how long
[29:57]
>> you should just know it's the Middle
[29:58]
East so you could uh I mean don't you
[30:00]
can't stand on your hind legs there but
[30:02]
you can negotiate uh halfp price fees
[30:06]
and stuff if you're even if you're not
[30:08]
if you you're an Israeli but you have uh
[30:10]
you know good bank good banking you have
[30:12]
savings you have a lot of money in the
[30:14]
count, whatever it is. So, it's not just
[30:16]
there's no certain specific thing that
[30:18]
they will give OIM, but the one of the
[30:20]
just as Zev explained, you can ask and
[30:22]
see how they respond.
[30:30]
Okay. Um, if there are no more
[30:32]
questions, we'll move into the next
[30:33]
step.
[30:38]
um
[30:40]
or in short misra
[30:43]
ministry of integration that is the
[30:46]
government office that allocates all
[30:49]
your aliyah benefits.
[30:51]
Um and you will have an advisor by them
[30:57]
helping you and um navigating in using
[31:00]
different aliyah benefits such as ulan
[31:03]
for example. The first step will be your
[31:06]
Misadakita advisor. But your
[31:08]
appointment, if you don't yet have an
[31:10]
appointment with Mislata, the one way to
[31:14]
schedule is by calling star 2994.
[31:18]
That is the um abbreviated phone number
[31:21]
for Misaklita.
[31:23]
And you can uh follow the prompt for
[31:25]
English and ask for an appointment. Um
[31:29]
for this appointment, again, you'll need
[31:31]
to bring different documents with you.
[31:33]
you will finalize your aliyah
[31:36]
um process. Your aliyah advisor will
[31:39]
review your aliyah benefits, the ones
[31:41]
you're eligible for. Um again, different
[31:44]
statuses could have different um
[31:47]
eligibilities for um different benefits.
[31:50]
But mislakita will help you to
[31:53]
understand what you're eligible for and
[31:55]
how to use it every step of the way. And
[31:59]
as I mentioned the go visit uh now I'm
[32:03]
saying it the other way around as I
[32:05]
mentioned the govil
[32:07]
um website once you have your biometric
[32:10]
2.zahoot Zahoot you can also set up the
[32:13]
government online access and then you
[32:16]
can also contact your mislakita advisor
[32:18]
online that is another useful way to be
[32:21]
in touch with them and
[32:24]
um you just want to try and take care of
[32:27]
that appointment as soon as you can um
[32:30]
just for you so your uh aliyah is
[32:33]
finalized and everything is in place for
[32:35]
you to move forward. Um,
[32:37]
>> does it matter which branch you go to
[32:39]
for that?
[32:40]
>> Makita specifically goes by your
[32:43]
registered address with Misraim. If you
[32:46]
registered in Jerusalem, you will go to
[32:48]
the branch in Jerusalem. If you
[32:50]
registered in Petikva or Berva, anywhere
[32:52]
else, it will be by your registered
[32:55]
address. So, and that's automatic. So,
[32:57]
once you call them and they have your
[32:58]
toat number,
[33:01]
>> they will tell you which branch you go
[33:02]
to.
[33:03]
>> Okay.
[33:05]
Um and once you have your advisor that
[33:07]
is the advisor that stays with you um
[33:14]
okay so we'll move on to the next um
[33:18]
to the next step
[33:21]
um kupat kim kupat khim is the healthc
[33:24]
care provider
[33:26]
and now we are going to very shortly um
[33:30]
discussi
[33:32]
bui As I mentioned the beginning, the in
[33:35]
the inter the Israel uh insurance
[33:38]
institute
[33:40]
um
[33:42]
is a government agency that oversees
[33:46]
many many many different social needs
[33:50]
and medical needs of Israeli citizens
[33:53]
who actively live in Israel.
[33:56]
And
[33:58]
BUlumi oversees the katim the healthc
[34:01]
care providers
[34:03]
and you're registered
[34:07]
through betuumi to katim of your choice.
[34:11]
There are four katim
[34:13]
makabi kalit and leit.
[34:17]
And one of the documents you received at
[34:19]
the airport was the healthcare
[34:20]
registration form. It has uh it's a page
[34:24]
all in Hebrew and the one word in
[34:26]
English would be your chosen katim.
[34:29]
So when you go to your kupatim to
[34:32]
finalize your registration,
[34:36]
you will need to have that document with
[34:38]
you and of course your two and your two
[34:41]
and um
[34:44]
and they just have in mind that in
[34:47]
between
[34:48]
processing with can take longer. Baklumi
[34:52]
was closed for Sukkot for example like
[34:55]
all other government offices. So they
[34:57]
weren't working for a week and there
[34:58]
were very few days of work since
[35:02]
Roshashana.
[35:03]
So
[35:05]
you can try and go to your chosen
[35:06]
kupatim
[35:08]
any branch you'd like. Could be the one
[35:11]
right near you. It could be the one two
[35:13]
two blocks away. But um go into your
[35:17]
katim branch. Uh better to go in the
[35:20]
morning. I would say between 8:30 and
[35:23]
12.
[35:25]
and uh with the uh registration form and
[35:29]
ask to finalize your registration.
[35:32]
Now when you do that
[35:35]
um and here I'm going to assume that
[35:38]
processed everything in the system and
[35:40]
your katim sees you there then you can
[35:44]
ask your katim about their supplemental
[35:46]
coverage. Each kopat kaleim offers
[35:51]
um the basic coverage goes from
[35:55]
um again by the government that is part
[35:57]
of the socialized medical system here
[36:00]
and that goes to the basic coverage but
[36:04]
each kopatim offers two tiers of
[36:07]
supplemental insurance that is highly
[36:09]
recommended to have. It is not that
[36:12]
expensive to pay for it and that is a
[36:16]
monthly pay directly to your katim. They
[36:19]
factor in different um
[36:22]
um they have different factors when they
[36:24]
put together um age um current medical
[36:29]
um status and so forth and that
[36:32]
determines your monthly pay. I will say
[36:35]
that I believe the highest you could pay
[36:38]
if I'm not wrong would be 200 and
[36:41]
something maybe 300 shekels a month per
[36:44]
person and that is not really a lot of
[36:46]
money for all that could be available
[36:50]
um with kupatim
[36:53]
and it's important to have it could also
[36:56]
be less it depends again on different
[36:58]
factors um they'll ask you when when you
[37:01]
sign up for it now signing up for the
[37:04]
supplemental insurance during the first
[37:07]
three months from your aliyah
[37:11]
will with your tat will wave the waiting
[37:15]
period. Typically in Israel if I will go
[37:19]
to myatim and I'll tell them I'd like to
[37:22]
have the higher um coverage. I happen to
[37:26]
have the medium. So they will tell me
[37:28]
okay great please pay in and within x
[37:31]
amount of months you will be eligible
[37:33]
for the services you need to pay in to
[37:35]
be eligible and it's not immediate so
[37:39]
being kadeshim with your ole you do not
[37:42]
have that waiting period and it's very
[37:45]
important to use it because the
[37:46]
additional supplemental services gives
[37:49]
you more options for different medical
[37:52]
services and also better co-pays for any
[37:55]
uh medical needs that you might have.
[37:58]
Again, depends on the katim
[38:00]
um directives, but it is recommended to
[38:05]
have. Now, as I mentioned, the basic
[38:07]
coverage with
[38:10]
um just know that and are tied together
[38:14]
by law and
[38:17]
um
[38:19]
and we'll discuss a little further later
[38:22]
on.
[38:23]
And with Kopat Khim, the big difference
[38:27]
is
[38:29]
if you've had insurance company in the
[38:32]
United States and you wanted to go to
[38:36]
the ER or you needed a doctor, you found
[38:38]
a clinic, you went there, you were
[38:40]
covered, great. In Israel, Katim is not
[38:44]
only health insurance.
[38:46]
It is a healthcare provider. Meaning
[38:49]
each kopat hole has their own branches,
[38:53]
their own clinics, their own doctors all
[38:56]
around all um spread out all all around
[38:58]
the country. And if you are a member of
[39:03]
one kupatim,
[39:05]
when you want to schedule an appointment
[39:06]
with the doctor, you do that through
[39:09]
your kopatim if you're with Makabi. So
[39:12]
you can um go to the Makabi app or the
[39:15]
Makabi online or call Makabi by phone
[39:18]
and they will help you to schedule with
[39:20]
a Macabi doctor. In Israel the uh GP is
[39:25]
called aish pa a family doctor and that
[39:29]
is the first um and that is the first
[39:32]
doctor that you want to see. After you
[39:34]
finalize your registration, please do
[39:37]
schedule. You could also ask the front
[39:38]
desk at the branch. Now that I finalized
[39:41]
my registration, please um help me
[39:44]
schedule an appointment with a Mishbaha.
[39:48]
You could also ask if they have
[39:49]
English-speaking doctors. Just go hop
[39:52]
say in uh hop in, say hi. Um and make
[39:56]
sure that they know you. Maybe they
[39:57]
would want to do some blood work, start
[39:59]
and get some medical information into
[40:01]
the system. And once you do, you'll find
[40:05]
out it's very convenient. You'll have a
[40:07]
member card. It looks like a credit card
[40:10]
but only has medical information
[40:13]
and whenever you go to see a doctor you
[40:15]
give them the card and they can see your
[40:17]
medical file and all the history and it
[40:20]
goes with you and it's very convenient.
[40:22]
Now as I started to say given your katim
[40:26]
provides you with medical services not
[40:29]
only as an insurance but as the actual
[40:32]
provider you don't just show up in the
[40:35]
ER. Let's say that you have a medical
[40:38]
need. You feel really bad. It's the
[40:40]
middle of the night, so clearly clinics
[40:43]
are closed. Before going to the ER, and
[40:47]
here I'm talking about, I'm in a lot of
[40:49]
pain, but it's not life-threatening.
[40:51]
Um, you can call your katim. They have
[40:54]
247
[40:55]
call center. You can ask to speak with a
[40:57]
nurse. Um, and the nurse can then decide
[41:02]
if they, you know, take some painkillers
[41:06]
and come in the morning or I want you to
[41:08]
go to the ER.
[41:10]
The difference is who's paying. If you
[41:12]
go to the ER without um calling your
[41:15]
KPAT khim first, you might get stuck
[41:19]
with a bill. But if if you called your
[41:21]
kupat khim and a nurse told you go to
[41:24]
the ER I'm putting a referral on your um
[41:28]
card on your um kupat khim card you go
[41:31]
to the ER you give your card and your
[41:34]
katim will pay for it and again as I
[41:38]
mentioned not lifethreatening
[41:41]
god forbid you find yourself in a
[41:44]
life-threatening situation you don't
[41:46]
wait to call your katim clearly you call
[41:49]
an ambulance, you take care of yourself
[41:51]
first if it is lifethreatening. If
[41:54]
you're just understand that you need a
[41:56]
doctor, so call your kopathim first, get
[42:00]
this um first response, maybe they could
[42:03]
tell you, oh, but we do have a clinic um
[42:06]
one clinic that's open, you can go there
[42:08]
now. Um so do make sure for any medical
[42:12]
need that is not lifethreatening or a
[42:15]
clear emergency.
[42:17]
Um just make sure you call your kupatim
[42:20]
first. Um when what I mentioned for um
[42:24]
for the ER also goes for calling
[42:26]
ambulances.
[42:27]
If it's not emergency and not
[42:29]
life-threatening, call your Koopa first.
[42:32]
Um and make sure they will cover
[42:34]
whatever costs involved in you going
[42:37]
further. um with medical needs.
[42:40]
Um I will pause for a second. Katim and
[42:45]
the way it works
[42:47]
um is big and is even much bigger. Um
[42:52]
there could be a lot of questions here
[42:54]
and we will take questions but I also
[42:57]
want you to know that it's not really
[42:59]
possible to cover all the questions
[43:02]
related to
[43:04]
so it's okay to take time and let it
[43:06]
settle in. um and get used to the way it
[43:08]
works in Israel.
[43:11]
>> Zev,
[43:12]
>> yes.
[43:13]
>> Can we um I'm gonna have a commercial
[43:14]
break and say another another one of the
[43:17]
uh services that um we provide OIM after
[43:20]
aliyah we have once a month what we call
[43:23]
open forum usually with a spotlight on a
[43:25]
certain topic and um actually tomorrow's
[43:28]
open forum will be spotlight on the dos
[43:30]
and don'ts of uh navigating the Israeli
[43:34]
healthcare system. You should have all
[43:36]
gotten an email about it. Um I will put
[43:38]
the link in in the chat as well if you
[43:41]
want to register and um you'll should be
[43:43]
getting emails once a month
[43:45]
approximately once a month about the
[43:46]
various open forums on all sorts of
[43:49]
topics. There will be also an open forum
[43:50]
on Bumi to help you understand it
[43:52]
better. That's further on in the year.
[43:55]
Thank you.
[43:57]
>> Thank you Tibi. Um, so now are there any
[44:00]
questions about kupatim or the way it
[44:03]
works
[44:09]
or are there any questions in the chat
[44:10]
that I uh could answer everybody?
[44:16]
>> I had a question about
[44:18]
is it paid separately after the first
[44:23]
few months or how does it work exactly?
[44:26]
>> Amazing question. So being that lumi
[44:30]
gives you the basic coverage with
[44:32]
kupatim and then you pay the
[44:35]
supplemental you do in a way pay twice
[44:38]
again it is not very expensive typically
[44:41]
and again I'll say typically as we
[44:43]
covered the general uh information for
[44:45]
new the first six months are free
[44:48]
someone with a previous Israeli status
[44:51]
um not specifically as ramim but um
[44:56]
could have a different um timeline and
[44:58]
sometimes have to pay since day one. But
[45:02]
typically the first six months for
[45:04]
betumi are free of charge if you are not
[45:07]
working
[45:09]
and then you're paying once you do pay
[45:12]
then you pay baklumi and you pay
[45:15]
directly to your katim the supplemental
[45:17]
coverage. Now, if you are working for an
[45:20]
Israeli employer and you have your
[45:22]
Israeli payub, you could find the
[45:24]
betuhumi payments deducted monthly from
[45:28]
your payub automatically as a percentage
[45:31]
of your income and that is very
[45:34]
convenient.
[45:35]
If you are working abroad or you are a
[45:39]
freelancer,
[45:41]
then you should contact an accountant
[45:44]
because forumi purposes you're
[45:46]
considered self-employed and accountants
[45:50]
know best how to navigate both income
[45:52]
tax and um and payments for
[45:57]
self-employed
[45:59]
and that is the way to go. Now if um
[46:05]
um now if you are not working and you
[46:07]
have no income at all then there is
[46:10]
still a minimum amount required monthly
[46:15]
to pay to be a llumi and if you follow
[46:18]
up on the monthly emails there will be
[46:21]
reminders as you're reaching your six
[46:23]
months mark
[46:25]
um if anyone here has a previous Israeli
[46:28]
status again not as raimm
[46:31]
um former A1 for example
[46:34]
um if you do have that and you think you
[46:38]
need to know more about and potential
[46:40]
payments earlier than 6 months so please
[46:43]
be in touch with us. I will also say
[46:45]
that bothi and kopatim have online
[46:49]
accounts
[46:51]
um that could be set up and
[46:54]
to that end I will say that a lot of
[46:57]
times
[46:59]
does not have your up-to-date phone
[47:01]
number and contact information. So the
[47:03]
first registration is easier to do with
[47:07]
an Israeli credit card. So, when you go
[47:09]
to the bank, ask them to get um ask them
[47:12]
about an Israeli credit card or a debit
[47:14]
card, any Israeli um payment that you
[47:20]
could use to prove to me who we are when
[47:22]
you try to register. Um but we could
[47:25]
also help you in navigating and setting
[47:27]
up the online katim online the front
[47:31]
desk when you finalize your katim
[47:32]
registration, they'll give you that
[47:34]
information. Ask for it if you don't
[47:36]
notice it. Um, and you can take it from
[47:40]
there. But that was a really great
[47:42]
question. Thank you.
[47:44]
>> One more followup. So, if I'm a student
[47:47]
or have no income, I can pay online or
[47:52]
>> Yes, you can pay online. Um, and I think
[47:57]
students also have a lower if you're not
[48:00]
working or only a student also have a
[48:02]
lower um pay requirement.
[48:06]
But these Basically those pay
[48:08]
requirements to be allow you to be part
[48:10]
of the health care system and when you
[48:13]
have medical needs you also get much
[48:15]
more in return to what you're paying.
[48:18]
>> Apologies if you said this Zev um it
[48:21]
would be for student or for anyone else
[48:23]
it would be after your first six months
[48:25]
for free and sometimes it's 12 months
[48:27]
depending on your situation.
[48:29]
>> Um I also have a question. I'm a student
[48:32]
as well and I was just wondering how do
[48:34]
you let them know that you are a
[48:36]
student?
[48:38]
>> So once you um set up the betumi online
[48:41]
it is by far the best way to be in touch
[48:44]
with
[48:46]
um you could do everything. You can see
[48:48]
all your information. You can send and
[48:50]
upload documents and so forth. You can
[48:53]
see the status that knows about you and
[48:56]
if it's wrong you can send them an
[48:58]
update online. you'll need to submit
[49:00]
your um um probably your student like
[49:04]
approve you're studying in a certain
[49:06]
college or university and that you have
[49:08]
no income and that you ask them to um
[49:11]
correct your um your status.
[49:14]
But again also important to know about
[49:17]
betumi it is highly individualized
[49:22]
meaning if you'll have your perfect
[49:24]
identical twin
[49:26]
might still get different um answers
[49:29]
from betumi because it because it is
[49:31]
that individualized
[49:33]
and there is a lot behind it. We're not
[49:35]
going to cover it here and you can see
[49:38]
all your information on the baklumi
[49:40]
online. We also have a guide how to set
[49:43]
up the betumi online and if you need any
[49:45]
further assistance with it do give us a
[49:47]
call. I will mention again if you could
[49:50]
make sure that you have either an
[49:52]
Israeli credit card or an Israeli debit
[49:54]
card or the first registration with
[49:57]
betumi could be easier for you if uh
[50:00]
something is not working smoothly with
[50:02]
the registration.
[50:04]
And one more thing, it does not mean if
[50:07]
you don't set up the online, it does not
[50:10]
mean does not know you exist. Knows you
[50:13]
are an Israeli citizen and they know
[50:16]
very well. But the online is an an
[50:19]
access for you and it is very very
[50:21]
recommended to have.
[50:30]
Okay, I think we'll move forward again
[50:33]
at the end of the session if there will
[50:35]
still be time then we'll open it up for
[50:37]
other questions and do feel free to send
[50:39]
any other questions you have in the chat
[50:41]
and also reach out to us um you don't
[50:44]
need to um you don't need to wait to
[50:48]
wait specifically
[50:50]
um for something to come up if you want
[50:52]
to know um oh I see now in the chat the
[50:56]
credit card and the debit card Um
[51:00]
in I will say very shortly that in
[51:03]
Israel
[51:04]
the credit card uh maybe I should have
[51:06]
spoken about the banks but um in Israel
[51:09]
credit cards are also it's not like
[51:12]
creating an endless debt in a way when
[51:14]
you have a credit card you could use the
[51:16]
card and there is one day a month that
[51:20]
all the charges come off of your card
[51:22]
come off of your bank account basically.
[51:25]
So, um you're using the card to the
[51:29]
limit of your um to the limit that it
[51:32]
allows you to and it just gives you the
[51:35]
credit or you could split the payments.
[51:37]
Debit card in Israel only works for as
[51:40]
much cash as you have in your bank
[51:42]
account. Um if you have a,000 shekels in
[51:46]
your bank account, you could not use
[51:47]
your debit card um any more than a
[51:51]
thousand shackles. Uh and that is the
[51:54]
difference.
[51:56]
just very very in general. It's not a
[51:58]
>> I'm gonna add one one more thing to to
[52:01]
um purchase something um on credit as
[52:05]
the typical American. I pay off part of
[52:08]
it this month, part of it next month,
[52:09]
part of it the month after. It's a whole
[52:11]
process. It's not something that's you
[52:13]
don't just fall into that by accident.
[52:14]
You have to lum and you will be charged
[52:17]
tax uh interest on that. So that's not
[52:20]
really what you want. So, credit card,
[52:22]
it's kind of a misnomer because it's not
[52:24]
really a credit card. It's a debit card
[52:26]
that you pay at the end of the month.
[52:27]
Everything is is directly debited from
[52:29]
your account at the end of the month as
[52:31]
opposed to the debit card where it's
[52:32]
directly debited immediately from your
[52:34]
account or the same day next day. And
[52:38]
Zev's Zev's comment about the uh the
[52:41]
limit is very important to know as well.
[52:43]
>> So, do you recommend having both?
[52:48]
>> That is an individual choice. Whatever
[52:50]
serves you best.
[52:52]
>> So, let's say you go to a restaurant or
[52:54]
you go to a store. What do you use?
[52:58]
>> Bit or pay box.
[53:00]
>> Uh, no. No. I'm I'm I'm half being
[53:02]
facitious. Israelis use all sorts of
[53:03]
things and it's really what you're
[53:04]
comfortable using. Um, I mean, the debit
[53:06]
card is nice because you know exactly
[53:08]
how much money you have in your account.
[53:09]
The downside of a debit card is
[53:11]
sometimes some places you you you reach
[53:14]
your limit very much quicker than you
[53:16]
would on a credit card where you have a
[53:18]
larger limit. So, and and the downside
[53:20]
of having both is there is a monthly
[53:22]
fee. It's not so much though, but um
[53:27]
>> okay,
[53:27]
>> if you want Sherry, if you want to or I
[53:29]
mean this is in general on any topic,
[53:30]
but if you have want to have a long
[53:32]
conversation about it, you're certainly
[53:34]
welcome to give us a call or write an
[53:36]
email, you know, send us a quick email
[53:37]
and say, I'd like to talk to somebody
[53:38]
about it and we can go, you know, share
[53:40]
more of our experience and more of our
[53:42]
knowledge and so on. because it's a like
[53:43]
banking in Israel as I've said at the
[53:45]
when he when we talked about it it's
[53:47]
very different in a lot of ways.
[53:48]
>> Yeah.
[53:48]
>> Can I make a suggestion?
[53:52]
>> Can I make a suggestion? I don't know if
[53:53]
you can hear me or not.
[53:55]
>> Sure, we hear you.
[53:56]
>> Um I've been working hand inand with
[53:59]
Claude AI uh on this move and Claude
[54:04]
suggested I open up a wise account W.
[54:08]
>> That's that's an American that's an
[54:10]
American. And it's not as
[54:12]
>> Oh, so perhaps I did it before I left.
[54:16]
Uh, and that's the difference. Okay. So,
[54:18]
you cannot do that once you're here.
[54:20]
>> Well, you can't you're you're you might
[54:21]
be able to do it once you're here, but
[54:22]
your salita money won't be able to be um
[54:25]
won't be able to be deposited in there.
[54:27]
You won't be able to use that.
[54:29]
>> Correct. However, it's a good method to
[54:32]
transfer money uh at a good rate. You
[54:35]
can set a rate and then transfer it when
[54:37]
you get an alert and then put it into
[54:39]
your Israeli bank. We often get the
[54:42]
question, what's the best way to
[54:43]
transfer money? And you have so many
[54:45]
different answers. It depends on many
[54:47]
different factors. Okay. So, if Claude
[54:50]
gave you an answer that's helpful to
[54:51]
you, that's amazing.
[54:54]
>> I will take
[54:54]
>> I I was speaking with an Israeli here.
[54:57]
Well, an American who made aliyah
[54:59]
several years ago, and he was definitely
[55:02]
interested in the wines. So, I would
[55:05]
look it up.
[55:07]
>> But, let me just say one more thing.
[55:08]
There's also really good, I'll put it in
[55:10]
the chat in a second, a really good both
[55:12]
website and Facebook group called Living
[55:14]
Financially Smarter in Israel. It's run
[55:16]
by a woman by the name of Rifka Liitz
[55:18]
who is a a a financial advisor. She's a
[55:22]
veteran Olaf from the United States and
[55:25]
she's really on the up and up and the
[55:26]
Facebook group um is answered and a good
[55:28]
way you can look through the uh through
[55:30]
the um history to see previous you know
[55:34]
chats, previous threads as well as
[55:36]
looking at the website. and I'll put it
[55:37]
in so you can look at that as well if
[55:38]
you're interested in more.
[55:42]
>> Thank you, Tippy. Um, so now before we
[55:44]
move on to the next step, I will say
[55:47]
that up until now when we discussed your
[55:50]
biometric 2.zahoot and I will also
[55:53]
mention the fourdigit code is important
[55:55]
and make sure that you have it available
[55:58]
to you. Your biometric 2.zahoot do it
[56:00]
your bank account
[56:02]
appointment and finalizing registration
[56:05]
with katim.
[56:07]
These four steps are more timesensitive
[56:11]
and you do want to get those done at
[56:15]
your earliest convenience.
[56:18]
That will get you started. And also of
[56:20]
course get an Israeli phone number. You
[56:22]
will need it for all those. Um, now that
[56:25]
we're moving to the next steps, they are
[56:27]
important steps, things that you want to
[56:30]
be aware of and know, but they are not
[56:32]
as timesensitive as those four. So, just
[56:36]
for your um just for your knowledge, um
[56:40]
there's a lot to do settling in after
[56:42]
aliyah and those four steps should be
[56:45]
taken care of as soon as you can.
[56:49]
Now um anyone here with minor children?
[56:54]
>> I don't have
[56:56]
>> no um okay if anyone do so please stay
[56:59]
at the and end and we'll cover this or
[57:02]
just contact us separately later on. Um
[57:05]
so now we'll move to um
[57:09]
Arona. Um Arona is a municipal tax
[57:14]
that's being paid to your municipality
[57:16]
monthly. Um
[57:19]
it's not necessarily monthly, but um
[57:22]
it's paid to your uh municipal uh to
[57:25]
your municipality and it's based on the
[57:27]
size of the apartment you live in and
[57:32]
uraly
[57:36]
receive a 12month period with discounted
[57:41]
Arnona bill meaning that the benefit
[57:44]
itself is only for 12 months but It is
[57:47]
available to you during the first 24
[57:51]
months from your aliyah. The discount is
[57:55]
offered for the first 100 square meters
[57:58]
of your apartment.
[58:00]
So if your apartment is larger than
[58:02]
that, you can enjoy the space, but the
[58:05]
discount would only be relevant up till
[58:07]
the first uh 100 square meters and the
[58:09]
rest of it would be at a regular rate.
[58:12]
And it requires you to have the Arnona
[58:14]
bill in your name. To do that, you can
[58:18]
either if you own the place, then the
[58:20]
Arona should already be in your name.
[58:23]
But if you rent a place, you can um send
[58:26]
the lease. It could be done online. For
[58:29]
most municipalities, it could be done
[58:30]
online. Um
[58:33]
and you could um
[58:38]
um you could ask them to change the
[58:40]
Arnona bill to your name. And once you
[58:42]
do, then you can apply for the Arnona
[58:44]
discount. It is a municipal discount.
[58:47]
So, each municipality has a different
[58:49]
rate. Some municipalities may not offer
[58:53]
necessarily the discount at all. Uh, but
[58:55]
most, I believe, do. And some
[58:58]
municipalities also have that available
[59:01]
in English on their website. Uh,
[59:02]
Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, for example, is
[59:04]
pretty good uh with their English. Some
[59:07]
other municipalities maybe a little less
[59:10]
so. And to apply for the discount once
[59:14]
the bill is in your name, you will need
[59:16]
your tood and your teudat to prove your
[59:20]
aliyah date and um and for them to check
[59:24]
your eligibility.
[59:26]
Um now it is more than uh common that
[59:30]
when the calendar year changes, let's
[59:32]
say that you apply now in October, come
[59:35]
January 1st, you need to apply again.
[59:37]
even if you didn't use up all the 12
[59:39]
months, they just needed uh an
[59:41]
application for each calendar year on
[59:43]
its own. So have that in mind, please.
[59:46]
And I will also take that opportunity to
[59:48]
mention the municipal coordinator. A lot
[59:51]
of municipalities have coordinators who
[59:54]
work for the municipality and help OLEM
[59:57]
integrate during the first year from
[60:00]
Aliyah. And you can contact those with
[60:03]
you can contact the municipal
[60:04]
coordinator with any question local
[60:08]
question if something's not working out
[60:10]
with the Arnona or you are not so sure
[60:13]
how to navigate if you want to contact a
[60:15]
different department in the municipality
[60:18]
um and if you have just general
[60:21]
questions about the municipality if
[60:23]
there are specific events for in the
[60:25]
municipality maybe local face uh
[60:27]
WhatsApp groups you can definitely
[60:30]
contact the municipal coordinator and
[60:31]
ask. We also have a list. Um if TPI, you
[60:35]
could please share it in the chat. Um
[60:38]
and
[60:40]
that is another great resource for you
[60:42]
to have when you're um settling in to
[60:45]
your local um municipalities.
[60:50]
Um any questions about the Arnona
[60:53]
benefit?
[60:59]
Okay. So we'll move forward. Um
[61:02]
driving driver's license conversion.
[61:05]
Okay, this is a hot topic usually. Um
[61:09]
and the important thing to remember
[61:11]
about license conversion is timelines.
[61:16]
There is a 12 month period where you can
[61:20]
drive with your foreign license. It's
[61:23]
important to know it is not necessarily
[61:25]
the date of your aliyah that trigger the
[61:28]
12 months but rather the earlier um the
[61:33]
earliest visit into the country within
[61:37]
the last 6 months.
[61:40]
For example,
[61:41]
if you have visited Israel in 2024
[61:46]
and only came back to Israel on your
[61:50]
aliyah just now,
[61:52]
then you have 12 months since the day of
[61:55]
your aliyah to drive with your foreign
[61:57]
license in Israel.
[61:59]
If you came to visit Israel in May 2026
[62:06]
and you now made aliyah in October or in
[62:09]
September, sorry, you just made aliyah
[62:12]
in September, the date you entered
[62:14]
Israel in May will be the trigger of
[62:18]
your 12 months to drive with your
[62:20]
foreign license. There is a 6 months
[62:23]
cooling period. If you've been outside
[62:26]
of Israel before your aliyah for more
[62:28]
than 6 months,
[62:31]
then the clock will reset. If you're not
[62:33]
so sure about the timeline, please reach
[62:36]
out to us with an email or call us and
[62:39]
we're happy to help you in figuring out
[62:41]
your timeline. So that is the 12 month
[62:45]
timeline for you to be aware of. The
[62:47]
other one is five years. That's the date
[62:51]
of your aliyah. You have five years to
[62:54]
convert your driving license. If you
[62:57]
pass those five years without converting
[62:59]
your license,
[63:01]
you will then need to start from scratch
[63:04]
the whole process to have an Israeli
[63:06]
license. Um now during those five years
[63:09]
if you have proven history of driving
[63:12]
for more than five years that could be
[63:15]
if you're license your current valid
[63:17]
license had just happened to be for more
[63:20]
than 5 years since the date of your LEI
[63:22]
you can have an expediated procedure if
[63:25]
you have it for under five years and you
[63:28]
don't have if you have proof of driving
[63:31]
that could also be a document from the
[63:33]
DMV um in your um state, your original
[63:39]
uh state where you came from, then
[63:41]
great. And if you don't have your
[63:44]
license for more than 5 years before
[63:46]
your aliyah, you will have a few more
[63:49]
steps. You may be required for only a
[63:51]
road test, maybe you will need also a
[63:54]
theory test depend on how long you've
[63:56]
had your license for. We do have a great
[63:59]
article with the full information
[64:02]
um included what the expediate procedure
[64:04]
allows you to do and what is the
[64:06]
standard procedure. Um TP okay um and
[64:12]
that article is um
[64:15]
is available online if typically please
[64:18]
share it in the chat.
[64:19]
>> It's shared in the chat.
[64:20]
>> Oh thank you. Um so we can find it there
[64:23]
and see the full information and any
[64:24]
questions about it please feel free to
[64:26]
reach out to us. I will specifically say
[64:29]
that part of the application includes a
[64:31]
medical questionnaire. If you're about
[64:34]
to answer yes to any of those questions,
[64:37]
please do not submit the application.
[64:40]
It's an online form. Do not submit it
[64:43]
without a katim doctor letter.
[64:47]
Let's go back to visiting your uh family
[64:50]
doctor, your GP.
[64:53]
um do not submit the letter the
[64:56]
application without a katim doctor
[64:58]
letter explaining the relevant um
[65:02]
medical situation. Um again if you have
[65:06]
any questions about it do ask us. It's
[65:09]
better to ask in advance
[65:11]
um and we're happy to assist and provide
[65:14]
more information. Are there any
[65:16]
questions about the license conversion?
[65:28]
Okay. So, we'll move forward
[65:31]
and now we're also reaching another very
[65:33]
hot topic, travel documents.
[65:37]
So, I'll first say that sometimes um
[65:40]
because it takes time to be eligible for
[65:42]
an Israeli passport, it gives the sense
[65:44]
that you cannot travel and that is
[65:46]
incorrect.
[65:48]
you are able to travel and you are
[65:51]
welcome to do so. We'll just need to
[65:53]
know what is the relevant document again
[65:56]
for what timeline.
[65:58]
I will start and say that from now and
[66:01]
until the um it's been going on for a
[66:03]
while but for you guys from now and
[66:06]
until December 31st 2026
[66:11]
you can travel with your toat zahoot
[66:14]
even the temporary one your toad zahut
[66:17]
and your foreign passport.
[66:21]
There is
[66:23]
um a few there are a few things to know
[66:26]
when traveling that way.
[66:28]
before you have an Israeli travel
[66:30]
document. And we're happy to share the
[66:32]
full information about it by email or by
[66:36]
phone call. Um, it's probably the better
[66:38]
way to do. I'm not going to cover all
[66:39]
the steps here. And just for you to know
[66:42]
that until December 31st, 2026, you can
[66:45]
travel in and out of Israel with your
[66:48]
two. Zahoot and your foreign passport.
[66:52]
Now, when you reach 3 months from your
[66:55]
aliyah, which would also probably be
[66:58]
around January of 2027,
[67:01]
you will be eligible to apply for a
[67:03]
teudat mavar. Teodatma is not the fullon
[67:09]
Israeli passport, but it it's an
[67:12]
official travel document, biometric
[67:15]
travel document allowing you to exit and
[67:18]
enter Israel,
[67:21]
meaning you will um you could use it
[67:24]
when you travel in and out of Israel,
[67:26]
but some countries
[67:28]
don't necessarily accept it as a
[67:30]
passport to get in there to get into
[67:33]
those countries. So you could check it
[67:36]
uh online in advance and we can also uh
[67:38]
provide that information.
[67:40]
And the third timeline here is 12
[67:44]
months.
[67:46]
12 months from your aliyah
[67:48]
being in Israel at least 660%
[67:52]
of the time accumulatively you will be
[67:56]
eligible for a passport.
[67:58]
And I will mention though that if you
[68:00]
already have the two mavar, you can use
[68:03]
it for the 5 years it's good for and
[68:06]
then apply for for your Israeli
[68:08]
passport. The differences, as I
[68:10]
mentioned, are not that big. But um
[68:13]
those are the timelines
[68:16]
for now and until the end of 2026.
[68:19]
Travel with your foreign passport and
[68:21]
your toatahoot.
[68:23]
3 months from your aliyah, you're
[68:24]
eligible for a twoat. And if you know
[68:27]
you will be traveling quite a bit, it's
[68:29]
the better document to have.
[68:32]
And 12 months from your aliyah and being
[68:36]
at least 60% of the time in the country
[68:39]
in Israel,
[68:41]
you will be eligible to apply for a
[68:43]
passport.
[68:44]
The appointment is with Misad Hapim,
[68:48]
same place where you apply for a
[68:50]
biometric tooth.
[68:52]
And I will repeat again that any
[68:55]
information about traveling especially
[68:58]
during that time until the end of 2026
[69:01]
do reach out to us and we'll give you
[69:04]
the specific information you need in
[69:07]
uh greater detail. Um now as I mentioned
[69:12]
before um the one thing to know and you
[69:16]
can also see the red notice at the
[69:18]
bottom left of the pagei
[69:21]
as we said also oversees the kotim and
[69:24]
they are linked to one another
[69:28]
takes a closer look at khadashim during
[69:32]
the first year from aliyah sometimes a
[69:34]
little more and they if you're traveling
[69:38]
for more than a month
[69:40]
out of Israel, you should notify
[69:43]
before you leave. And without
[69:47]
overbearing you with information, this
[69:49]
has to do with your Israeli residency,
[69:53]
not citizenship. Residency,
[69:56]
you are citizens and you will forever be
[69:58]
Israeli citizens.
[70:00]
But residency however is sometimes under
[70:04]
certain circumstances canled and needs
[70:07]
to be reinstated.
[70:09]
And if you know that you plan to travel
[70:12]
for more than a month, please be in
[70:14]
touch with us so we could guide you
[70:16]
further notify in advance. And if you do
[70:20]
have an extended travel and betumi then
[70:23]
happens to cancel residency
[70:26]
then it means that kopatim cannot
[70:29]
provide services until your residency is
[70:31]
reinstated. We can also help you
[70:34]
navigate reinstating your residency if
[70:36]
it's relevant. So it is something for
[70:38]
you to know. Just be aware of all things
[70:41]
can be navigated. It's just the more
[70:43]
you're prepared in advance the better.
[70:46]
And uh we're happy to assist and give
[70:49]
the full information.
[70:51]
Um I see there is another already a
[70:54]
question about traveling. Uh TP is that
[70:56]
something you want me to
[70:59]
answer? You want to respond? Uh
[71:02]
>> uh so I will respond first of all if you
[71:04]
call I said I the open forms the open
[71:06]
form in November the end of November is
[71:08]
going to be about that. Um,
[71:11]
so we would s you once you've gotten
[71:14]
your you applied for your biometric 2.z
[71:17]
and once 90 days have passed, we suggest
[71:19]
making an appointment another
[71:21]
appointment at the Misada Panim to apply
[71:23]
for the 2M. You do it at the at the
[71:26]
Misada Pane. You can't do it if you
[71:29]
haven't been here a full 90 days. You
[71:30]
must be 91 days or more. But once you're
[71:33]
once you've done that, you can once
[71:35]
you've passed that timeline, you can
[71:36]
make an appointment. Anthony um and um
[71:41]
apply there. We have a we have a whole
[71:44]
article which I can also I don't I have
[71:46]
to pull up the link which I'm happy to
[71:47]
put that um link in but also I'm going
[71:50]
to just give you a little tip here. Um,
[71:52]
when I want to look for an article on
[71:54]
our website, I just kind of put in here.
[71:56]
I'm just going to put in two.mar and I'm
[71:58]
going to put in then the words NBN, the
[72:01]
letters MBN, and just in regular um,
[72:03]
Google search, and I'm going to get the
[72:05]
first article, obtaining renewing an
[72:06]
Israeli passport, and I'm going to now
[72:08]
put that link in, but you can also find
[72:10]
it that way.
[72:12]
>> Um, thank you, Tipp. I'll also add if
[72:15]
you are just around the 3 months mark so
[72:18]
you cannot yet apply for a toatar
[72:21]
or you can apply but then you might not
[72:23]
receive it in time for your travel. It
[72:25]
can take up to 6 weeks to receive the
[72:28]
toatavar or the passport whichever is
[72:31]
relevant. Um then there is a way to
[72:35]
travel even if it's after the end of
[72:37]
2026 there is a way to travel without
[72:41]
the official travel document. another
[72:43]
way to travel. But please be in touch
[72:45]
with us a little closer
[72:47]
um to your travel when you know your
[72:50]
travel plans or if you already know them
[72:52]
you want to plan. So please send us an
[72:54]
email or give us a call and we'll um
[72:56]
provide you with more information. Um
[73:00]
about that I will also add that when you
[73:02]
are traveling outside of Israel Katarim
[73:04]
does not cover you. You do need to get
[73:07]
travel insurance. Kupat Kharim do offer
[73:10]
for additional pay to receive uh travel
[73:13]
insurance. There are also insurance
[73:15]
companies, the various insurance
[73:17]
companies that are happy to um
[73:21]
um to um receive money and give you
[73:24]
insurance when you're traveling.
[73:26]
Um are there any questions about either
[73:30]
the timelines or traveling?
[73:34]
Is the note about notifying is that only
[73:37]
relevant within the first year or is
[73:41]
that any time you live in Israel and you
[73:44]
leave for more than a month?
[73:46]
>> That's relevant specifically during the
[73:49]
first year. I sometimes say let's say
[73:51]
the first year or two if you know you're
[73:53]
traveling for more than a month. Um, the
[73:56]
longer you are
[73:58]
an Israeli resident, again, this is
[74:01]
residency. Citizens, you are and you
[74:03]
will always be. Um, but as long as
[74:06]
you're an Israeli resident for longer,
[74:10]
then um, this was not phrased properly,
[74:13]
sorry. U, um, then it is easier. I will
[74:17]
say that BUlumi does have a limit in
[74:20]
general. Um the limit is maximum of 5
[74:25]
years of uh maintaining residency but
[74:28]
it's not relevant specifically for now.
[74:31]
Uh
[74:31]
>> I just want to add one more thing if I
[74:33]
can Zev. So we had mentioned there's all
[74:34]
sorts of online um accounts to to open
[74:38]
up. One would be an online B2I account,
[74:41]
personal login account. You can't do
[74:43]
that yet. You it's much easier once you
[74:44]
finally have your once you have your
[74:46]
biometric 2. But when you do that,
[74:48]
you'll have you'll be giving Bumi your
[74:50]
up-to-date email address, phone number,
[74:53]
and that way if you travel and for some
[74:55]
reason a red uh they red flag you like,
[74:58]
why is she traveling so often or
[75:00]
something of that, they'll send you an
[75:01]
email and they'll give you 45 days to
[75:03]
respond. So if you open up that BLMI
[75:07]
personal login account and you keep it
[75:10]
up to date, you shouldn't have surprises
[75:13]
because if there's some reason, even if
[75:15]
you've been here a year and a half and
[75:16]
they still decide to red flag you and
[75:18]
say what's up here, they'll give you 45
[75:20]
days to reply to them and prove that
[75:22]
this is the center of your life and then
[75:24]
you you will respond. Okay? In any case,
[75:27]
and as I've said, you should if you're
[75:29]
not sure and you're traveling for, you
[75:31]
know, a long period of time, you should
[75:32]
give us a call and we'll help you
[75:33]
understand what the best steps are to
[75:35]
take.
[75:39]
>> Um, I just have another question. I did
[75:41]
try to make an account with Bomi online
[75:44]
and it said that like my information
[75:47]
didn't match up.
[75:48]
>> You have to wait. You have to wait. You
[75:50]
need to
[75:51]
>> That's what I thought.
[75:51]
>> You need to have your bat suit. it it
[75:54]
it's really hard if not impossible to do
[75:56]
without your biometric toads for all
[75:58]
sorts of reasons. There is a phone
[76:00]
number listed like they have tech
[76:01]
support and they could theoretically
[76:03]
help you but I would just say wait once
[76:04]
you get your put that on your to-do list
[76:06]
once you get your biometrics.
[76:08]
>> I will uh say though um earlier on I
[76:11]
also mentioned having an Israeli credit
[76:13]
card. Usually uh what I uh come to see
[76:17]
when uh helping olim to open their
[76:21]
account is that when the information is
[76:24]
not properly in the system if you have
[76:27]
an Israeli credit card that you put the
[76:30]
information in for theumi website. So
[76:33]
umi then verifi uses that information to
[76:36]
verify that you are in fact who you say
[76:39]
you are and then you can move on to the
[76:41]
next step. Um that being said, also um
[76:45]
mentions that they might charge one
[76:47]
shekele and then return it or cancel the
[76:50]
charge. Again, just for them to know
[76:52]
that they are in fact giving the
[76:54]
information to you and not someone else.
[76:58]
Um so that is another way once you have
[77:01]
an Israeli credit card to do that.
[77:06]
Okay. Okay. So, we'll uh move forward
[77:09]
and um towards the end of the booklet
[77:13]
there is additional information useful
[77:14]
for you to have and know. There is a
[77:17]
list of MRA branches and please do not
[77:22]
show up without an appointment. It could
[77:24]
be a waste of your time and theirs. But
[77:27]
do call star 2994
[77:30]
and um talk to someone. They also have a
[77:33]
WhatsApp number. Um that's pretty good.
[77:35]
If you could reach out to us um by email
[77:39]
or phone, we can find that number for
[77:41]
you as well. But do give them a call in
[77:44]
advance, but just for you to be aware of
[77:45]
different branches.
[77:47]
Um there is a list of aliyah benefits,
[77:50]
different aliyah benefits in short, what
[77:53]
it involves, um what are you eligible
[77:56]
for? And there is also a list of sorry
[78:03]
no maybe it's later on. Um then you also
[78:07]
have a page with emergency contacts.
[78:09]
Here you could find um the police
[78:12]
ambulance services. United Hutala is
[78:15]
similar to ambulance services. Again
[78:18]
I'll mention ambulance services. If it's
[78:20]
not life-threatening, call your kupat
[78:22]
khim first. You do have the kupat khim
[78:25]
phone numbers on that page as well. Um
[78:29]
please don't be surprised if you follow
[78:30]
prompts for English and then you hear
[78:35]
it happens um if they don't necessarily
[78:38]
have um an available English speaking
[78:41]
representative. Do your best with um
[78:44]
English and Hebrew. And also um you
[78:48]
could try and ask if there is someone
[78:49]
available to be transferred to. Um again
[78:52]
emergencies always take care of your f
[78:54]
of yourself first. Um there also knowing
[79:00]
that Israel being Israel um a lot is
[79:03]
going on around um and aliyah itself
[79:07]
could also be very um stressful and
[79:11]
include a lot of things. So there are
[79:12]
also if you feel that you need a little
[79:13]
bit of emotional support
[79:16]
um you can always call us for different
[79:18]
resources but also a few resources
[79:21]
available for you um if you feel that
[79:23]
you need those. And
[79:27]
um towards the end of the booklet
[79:30]
you can also find our contact
[79:33]
information at Neesh Benefish. We have
[79:35]
different services that we offer and
[79:38]
that we're available to assist. Again,
[79:41]
Sunday through Thursday from 9:00 am
[79:43]
till 5:00 p.m. You can always send us an
[79:45]
email even if it's after hours. If you
[79:48]
give us a call and nobody's available to
[79:49]
answer at the moment, you're able to
[79:51]
leave a voicemail. um we are here and
[79:54]
we're able happy to help and assist in
[79:56]
navigating as much as we can providing
[79:59]
resources and help you with this first
[80:01]
settling in here in Israel and with
[80:03]
anything else you come across.
[80:06]
Um now are there any um questions about
[80:12]
anything that we covered here today? Um
[80:15]
other things that come to mind after we
[80:17]
um
[80:20]
uh we covered additional inside
[80:23]
topics.
[80:34]
>> Hi, can you hear me?
[80:35]
>> Yes, I can.
[80:36]
>> Sorry, I'm navigating my phone here
[80:38]
which is not so easy on Zoom. Um,
[80:43]
I just want to make sure I understand
[80:45]
the order properly.
[80:47]
Um, I cannot go to my
[80:52]
medical appointment to set medical up
[80:58]
until I have my
[81:02]
um biometric card. Is that correct?
[81:06]
>> No, you can definitely go you the
[81:08]
temporary toatahoot that you have. Yes,
[81:11]
>> allows you to go and identify yourself
[81:14]
with any of the steps that you need and
[81:17]
it is also valid for 3 months. During
[81:19]
that time, you should be able to receive
[81:21]
your biometric to.zoot. Again,
[81:24]
appointments should be available for
[81:25]
you. Sometimes, you know, if you're very
[81:28]
persistent with looking for a biometric
[81:30]
appointment, biometric to zoot
[81:32]
appointment with misreadim,
[81:35]
then sometimes you're even able to find
[81:38]
same day or next day appointments. Um
[81:41]
definitely by next week. Um every now
[81:44]
and then someone calls in, asks to help
[81:46]
uh to help them find an appointment.
[81:48]
Depends on their area like on and um
[81:51]
mobility. I was sometimes able to find
[81:53]
appointments 2 hours away. Just get in
[81:56]
the car and go. Um
[81:59]
but you can definitely use your
[82:01]
temporary toad for the bank for katim
[82:05]
finalize registration take care of any
[82:07]
steps.
[82:08]
>> Okay. to take my temporary to the
[82:12]
uh a clinic nearby and I can set that up
[82:15]
on my own without the biometric card.
[82:19]
>> Correct. And you would also need your
[82:20]
toat to wave the waiting period for the
[82:23]
supplemental insurance.
[82:34]
>> Uh explain that to me. Sorry. the the
[82:39]
basic coverage for forumi
[82:43]
>> and Makabi offers you said Makabi
[82:46]
specifically so they offer
[82:48]
>> Makabi Zahav and Makabi Shali those are
[82:50]
supplemental tiers of insurance
[82:52]
>> yes
[82:53]
>> giving you better co-pays additional um
[82:56]
access to additional medical services
[82:58]
for example you could choose u you could
[83:01]
choose an expert
[83:03]
>> yes you should do that as soon as you
[83:05]
can and when You sign up with your tool.
[83:09]
There is no waiting period. Got
[83:12]
>> I understand.
[83:13]
>> Typically they ask
[83:14]
>> I had to wait for the biometric before I
[83:16]
could officially sign up for a mabi in
[83:18]
person but okay I will do.
[83:20]
>> Yeah that is that is why they give you
[83:22]
the temporary to. So you could already
[83:25]
um go ahead with these steps.
[83:27]
>> Z I just want to say one more thing and
[83:28]
then I have to go because I have another
[83:30]
meeting you can close up with everybody.
[83:31]
Uh, somebody had asked and I I just put
[83:33]
it in the chat. If any of you made
[83:35]
aliyah before September 3rd, you should
[83:38]
be eligible to vote in the upcoming
[83:40]
elections. I put a link in the um in the
[83:43]
chat or you can Google um oh the wrong
[83:47]
you can Google elections NBN or Israel
[83:49]
elections NBN. You'll see the article
[83:51]
show you where you could vote and so on.
[83:52]
So people want to know about that.
[83:54]
Anyway, thank you very much Mazan Aliyah
[83:56]
Zev. You get to close it. Okay.
[83:58]
>> Okay. Um so thank you for that comment.
[84:01]
It is important.
[84:02]
>> Um
[84:04]
>> the the benchmark the the um
[84:07]
>> the last date for updates in the system
[84:09]
for voting
[84:11]
um was uh September 3rd. So if you've
[84:16]
made a before that um you can check um
[84:19]
you can definitely try and check if
[84:21]
you're eligible to vote. Um and
[84:25]
um let's see. Oh yes, and we were
[84:27]
discussing the temporary 2. Zahoot the
[84:30]
temporary to.zahoot is temporary again
[84:33]
only for the purpose of not being
[84:35]
biometric and to allow you to take care
[84:38]
of your first steps before you have your
[84:40]
biometric toads. Exactly. For that end
[84:43]
the bank may require you to come back
[84:46]
when you have or maybe send by your
[84:48]
portal. You could ask your bank um to
[84:52]
come in and give them a copy of your
[84:54]
biometric 2.zoot when you do have it. Um
[84:59]
but again your 2.zahoot number as it is
[85:02]
on your temporary 2.zoot is the same and
[85:05]
will always be the same. So no worries
[85:08]
about that. Um and as I mentioned
[85:13]
biometric 2.zut bank account and katim
[85:17]
at your earliest convenience make sure
[85:19]
that you take care of those four steps.
[85:22]
Um,
[85:25]
any other questions?
[85:31]
>> No, but thank you so much.
[85:35]
>> Okay,
[85:36]
>> thank you very much.
[85:37]
>> Yes, thank you.
[85:38]
>> You're most welcome. And uh, Mazaltov on
[85:40]
your aliyah, once again, we are here to
[85:42]
assist. Don't hesitate to reach out with
[85:44]
any questions of any kind. Something's
[85:46]
not so clear, you're not so sure in the
[85:49]
ways that Israel is different. Um, and
[85:53]
sometimes just the cultural difference.
[85:55]
Sometimes people in Israel think they
[85:57]
know English and then it's not so easy
[86:01]
to understand them. And as I mentioned,
[86:03]
don't don't be alarmed if you call any
[86:05]
call center and you still, even if the
[86:08]
prompt says for English and you get
[86:10]
someone speaks Hebrew, um, it is part of
[86:13]
it and it's really great that you guys
[86:16]
are here and we are here to assist in
[86:18]
any way that we can.
[86:28]
I just unmuted so I don't hear that.
