The violent thud of an unexploded warhead is a sound no Jerusalem resident ever wants to hear. On the evening of the latest Iranian-led barrage, that sound shook a quiet Jerusalem suburb, landing just a few hundred meters several local believers.
The attack sent jagged metal shrapnel flying across the neighborhood, striking parked cars and leaving visible scars on asphalt and metal. Yet, in a moment that should have resulted in tragedy, the report was miraculous: no one was killed, no one was seriously injured, and the homes remained standing.
For those of us living and working in the Holy Land, this kind of "near-miss" has become a painful but familiar pattern. As missiles and their Iron Dome or Arrow interceptors rain debris over Jerusalem and central Israel, fragments are landing on roofs and in backyards. But the Lord’s protection remains evident in the detail that should have been death and instead became a testimony.
One of the most vivid accounts comes from the Jerusalem Seminary (JS), located in the historic Alliance Ministry Center, a hub for multiple kingdom works in the heart of the city. Metal shrapnel from a missile struck the roof directly above the seminary's main office.
The Director of Jerusalem Seminary shared this firsthand account:
"Jerusalem Seminary under fire, metal shrapnel from a missile hit the roof exactly over the office! Praise the Lord, it did not penetrate through and everyone is OK. Hallelujah! The Israeli bomb squad found metal shrapnel embedded in the roof that could not be removed without breaking through the office ceiling."
Despite the war and the frequent sirens that send staff scrambling to the basement shelter, the seminary continues to teach both in-person and via their online platform. Footage of the damage confirms the impact was real, yet limited, a physical manifestation of Psalm 91:1: “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.”
The danger was equally close in central Israel at the Baptist Village, a historic center for the local Body of Messiah. Video footage and photos from the site show large fragments of shrapnel scattered on the ground near the main entrance.
In a chilling display of the debris' velocity, the heavy iron bars on the front gate were found severed in half where the shrapnel had torn through. While the property damage was significant, the human cost was zero. The consistent thread throughout these incidents is that property was struck, but life was preserved, a reminder that God’s restraint is as active as the threat itself.
Perhaps the most personal evidence comes from the suburb where president of Vision for Israel lives. The unexploded warhead that landed near his home was captured on video, showing the impact zone in the middle of a civilian street. These images provide tangible evidence of how close the strike came to ending lives.
Verified reports from the Jerusalem Post and AFP confirm that shrapnel fell across multiple Jerusalem neighborhoods during this window, striking vehicles and residential buildings. Yet, rescue teams like Magen David Adom documented that while property damage was widespread, mass casualties were miraculously averted.
This resonates with the promise of Isaiah 43:2: “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you... when you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned.” The reality is not that believers are immune to the dangers of war, but that they are accompanied by a God who limits the damage and preserves a remnant in the midst of chaos.
For believers around the world, these "shrapnel testimonies" are both a call to prayer and a source of hope. The war continues to escalate, with missiles launched from Iran and Hezbollah targeting Jerusalem and Tel Aviv daily.
We don't pray because we are invincible; we pray because we have a Refuge. As we hear the air raid sirens, the words of Psalm 46:1 become our daily anchor: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

For the soldiers: Pray for the safety of the IDF soldiers and the civilian population. Pray specifically for the "Iron Dome of Heaven" to intercept not just the missiles, but the spirit of fear and despair attempting to grip the nation.
For the "Unity of the Spirit": Pray for the Messianic and Arab-Christian communities to stand as one "New Man" (Ephesians 2:15). In times of war, the enemy seeks to sow division; pray that the light of the Gospel would shine through their shared witness.
For the "Ministries Under Fire": Pray for Jerusalem Seminary, Vision for Israel, and the Baptist Village, that their physical repairs would be swift, and their spiritual impact would be multiplied by these testimonies of protection.
For the "Peace of Jerusalem": As Psalm 122:6 commands, pray for the peace (Shalom) of the city. Pray for the leaders of Israel to have the wisdom of Solomon and the courage of David as they navigate this existential threat.
