C H U P P A H The chuppah is the heart of a Jewish wedding ceremony, and Bar and I wanted ours to be something truly special. A combination of holiness, tradition, emotion, and pure joy. We wanted it to feel meaningful and spiritual, but also fun, uplifting, and full of life. So, between each of the seven blessings, we invited someone close to our hearts to share a personal prayer. In between, we filled the ceremony with powerful Israeli and Jewish songs that mean so much to us. It was emotional, spiritual, joyful, and everything we dreamed it would be. Most IDF soldiers don’t have that. Their bases are either missing mezuzot entirely, or the ones on the doorposts aren’t kosher. A mezuzah holds a scroll with the Shema, handwritten by a sofer. It’s not decoration. It’s a declaration that this doorway, and the people walking through it, are watched over. This year, we want every soldier to walk through a protected door. Why we do this work. Since 1948, the soldiers of the IDF have protected the land of Israel and Jews across the globe. They give up years of their lives, reserve duty through middle age, to keep us safe. We equip them with helmets, vests, and gear. But many bases and countless outposts still don’t have a mezuzah in every doorway. The Mezuzah Project was founded in 2025 by volunteers in the US and is still run entirely by volunteers. We work directly with the IDF rabbinate to find out exactly how many mezuzot are needed, and every dollar donated goes straight to getting one into every doorway. No overhead. Our partner Israel Select, which has already given out 10,000 pairs of tefillin to soldiers, makes every donation tax deductible in the US.
